It was another profitable night of NBA action for us on Friday as we cashed all three of our NBA picks, and I am back once again here on Saturday with two more valuable plays.

Nuggets vs. Mavs
The Nuggets had to play last night at home against the Spurs, and even though they are banged up and a far less superior team, the Nuggets actually held there own at home and lost only by 11 points to the Spurs. However, they failed to cover in that one, and now tonight they come in as a +9 underdog on the NBA odds, on the second night of a back to back to play the Mavs in Dallas. While I’m tempted to lay the points with Dallas in hopes of the late night travel hurting the Nuggets, the better play in my opinion is the over, with a total of just 205 ½.

Dallas currently owns a pace factor of 99.7, which ranks them 10th in the NBA, and while the Nuggets are paying slower under Mike Malone than they did under Brian Shaw, they have still been in several high scoring affairs this season. A big reason for this is Denver’s Defensive Efficiency, which is at 105.4 so far this season, and ranks them 24th in the NBA. With the back-to-back and going on the road against a good offensive unit, the over seems more and more like the play.

For some odd reason the total has dropped all the way from 209 ½ to 205 ½, and even though the Nuggets might not have the likes of Kenneth Faried or Joffrey Lauvergne tonight, Denver’s offense should still be able to get some points on the board. With the exception of last night, the over was 5-0 in the Nuggets last five games, and it’s cashed in four of their last five on the road. Dating back to last season, the over is 12-6 in the Mavs’ last 18 home games, and the over has also cashed in four of the last five times these two teams have played.

Lakers vs. Blazers
One of the more fun teams to pick on this season has been the Lakers. At 4-10 ATS, needless to say they have been an excellent fade in a lot of situations this season. Tonight against the Blazers in Portland, the Lakers come in as +8 underdogs, with a total of 204 points. The Lakers’ struggles have been well documented so far to start the season, whether it’s the struggles of Kobe Bryant’s shot to the struggles of the third overall pick, D’Angelo Russell. Tonight against the Blazers, both of those guys could still have good games, but I doubt it means the Lakers cover.

The Blazers have been somewhat good at beating teams they are supposed to ATS this season, and even with a long ATS losing streak under their belts already, with the exception of the Denver game, most of the ATS losses don’t surprise you.

On top of that, and probably most importantly, the Blazers have had a nice mini-rest between their last game and tonight. They last played against the Bulls on the 24th, and they have had rest ever since. The Lakers have also received similar rest, but with both teams rested, I’ll take the better one to cover the spread any day. Portland is 4-0 ATS in their last four games against the Lakers dating back to last season and one game this year, and with the Lakers only 1-5 ATS in their last six games, I am laying the points with Portland as the NBA pick.

NBA Pick: Blazers -8 at Bovada
