Another seven-game slate awaits on Tuesday, and we're back to break down the available odds and see where the top values are with our NBA picks this evening.
Miami Heat vs. Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks have rebounded nicely after a season-opening loss, having reeled off three straight wins as they head into tonight's road game in South Beach.
Current NBA odds offerings have Miami favored by four points on their home floor, where they've won each of their first two contests this season, first over Charlotte (104-94) and then in a come-from-behind victory over Houston (109-89). Miami outscored the Rockets 65-26 in the second half after falling into an early hole in what was a staggering tale of two halves. Dwyane Wade had 20 points and eight assists and Hassan Whiteside contributed 25 points, 15 rebounds, three steals and two blocks in the victory.
The Heat will now be welcoming a strong Hawks team to their building, hoping they can pull off another win in front of their own fans. It's not going to be easy though, as Atlanta has been on a roll since a letdown versus Detroit. The Hawks have beaten Charlotte twice and the New York Knicks, not the strongest of competition, but they've done what they've needed to do to get the Ws.
DeMarre Carroll is no longer around, but Atlanta had to have been relieved to see Kent Bazemore have his best game of the season the other day against the Hornets, particularly since he had been struggling in the early going. That being said, the Hawks have built up a lot of chemistry with that core group of Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, Paul Millsap and Al Horford, and we can't forget about the importance bench pieces, Dennis Schroder in particular.
You might be seeing where this is going. Although the Heat have enjoyed a fine start, we think there's legitimate value on the Hawks in this spot, as they've proven to be one of the best teams in the East over the last couple of seasons. We think they'll get up for this game and cover as road dogs, at the very least.

Sacramento Kings vs. Memphis Grizzlies
If you didn't know, the Grizzlies were torched by 50 points by the defending champion Warriors last night in what was the worst defeat in franchise history.
Needless to say, you'd have to think Memphis will be itching to get back out on the court and prove that performance was an aberration. Oddsmakers are expecting the Grizzlies to bounce back, as they've been priced out as four-point favorites on the NBA odds board. The total is at a modest 197 points.
All in all, it hasn't been all that bad of a start for Memphis. They've picked up two wins (over the Nets and Pacers) and two losses (to Golden State and Cleveland), with those defeats obviously coming against arguably the two best teams in the entire NBA. Let's not overreact too much to those blowout losses this early on in the season.
As for the Kings, they've opened with a 1-2 record through three games, with both losses coming at the hands of the Clippers. In the most recent setback, star center DeMarcus Cousins was injured, and he's set to miss this evening's home battle with Memphis. That means we should see a huge usage out of Rudy Gay, and others like Rajon Rondo are going to have to step up to fill that void too. Kosta Koufos figures to pick up the spot start at center in place of Cousins.
Where do we go with our NBA picks here? Well, we have no hesitations at all in backing the Grizzlies as road favorites tonight. They were awful yesterday, but they should make amends by outlasting the Cousins-less Kings. Memphis is the better team and is likely to prove it on Tuesday.
