NBA Picks of the Day: Pair of Totals to Maximize Friday's Profits

It’s the first big night of NBA action after the All Star Break, and with 13 games on the schedule tonight, and after a crazy day of trades on Thursday, this should be a great night for NBA Picks.

Celtics vs. Kings
Both of these teams were not quiet before the trade deadline, as both made moves to either bring in, or ship out rotation guys. The Celtics by far made the biggest move of the two teams, landing Isaiah Thomas in a mega four-team trade. There is no word on whether Thomas will play tonight, however whether he does or not, it’s won’t affect my pick on the NBA odds.

The sportsbooks have the Celtics as +3 ½ underdogs tonight, however with all of the unknown, and the injury to Jared Sullinger, betting the spread on Boston might be a risky move. I could endorse a play on the Kings if I knew that Thomas isn’t going to show up and drop 35 on his old team with his brand new team, however with all of the volatility, the best play on this one is the total.

Both of these teams play up in pace, and with Boston down several players potentially, there defense is not going to be up enough to slow down DeMarcus Cousins and the rest of the Kings. On top of that, the Celtics have a trend going this season of cashing the over against losing teams. They have cashed the over in six games in a row against teams with winning percentages below 40%, and the Kings are 5-2 cashing the over in their last seven games against losing teams. Sacramento is also 5-2 cashing the over in their last seven games as home favorites.

Spurs vs. Warriors
A night after giving up the game late to the Clippers, the Spurs have to travel into Golden State to play the Warriors tonight. With San Antonio down in the standings, and coming off the All Star Break, I doubt the back-to-back limits the Spurs too much. They are going to have to fight off the Thunder eventually, and every game matters here in the final 30. Tonight the NBA Odds have the Warriors as -7 favorites, however once again I am going with a bet on the total in this one.

As of this morning the total sits at 207 points between these two good defensive teams. I think the key to this one will be that the Spurs played last night. San Antonio is 9-6 this season cashing the under on the second night of a back to back, and they are 6-1 in their last seven playing on no rest.

The Warriors on the other hand are 5-2 cashing the under in their last seven games, and 5-2 cashing it in their last seven games as a favorite. On top of all that, the Warriors have cashed the under in four of their last five overall, and against teams with winning SU records. The Spurs have also cashed the under in seven of their last ten games as road underdogs.

Keep an eye on the Spurs’ starters statuses tonight before you lock in any wagers, but assuming that everyone plays for San Antonio, I like the under here for our NBA pick.
