After splitting a pair of NBA Picks last night, I am back once again to try and take advantage of the short slate. Although there are only five games on tonight, there could be some really good NBA Odds value.
Pelicans vs. Heat
The good feelings in Miami didn’t last long after the trade deadline. After making a big move to bring in Goran Dragic to complete what could have been a contending roster in the East, news broke that Chris Bosh is going to miss the rest of the season with a clot in his lungs. This is a huge career threatening injury for Bosh and I wish him all the best, but now without him, the Heat are going to have a big problem getting easy baskets. Dwyane Wade is still not 100% after only playing 22 minutes last night, and Dragic alone without Bosh is not going to move this team forward.
However despite the news about Bosh, and even though we don’t know if Dragic will play tonight, the Heat are still slight NBA betting odds favorites. With both teams coming off a back to back, the Pelicans actually look like the better play here. They had a much shorter trip last night traveling from Orlando as opposed to New York which is where the Heat were last night. Even though Miami blew out New York, this is still going to be a tough game, and defending against Anthony Davis is going to be even tougher without Bosh. Hassan Whiteside will be able to, but once Davis pulls him away from the basket, it’s all over.
The Heat are only 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, and even though they blew out New York last night, they are only 1-5 ATS in their last six games coming off a SU win of 10 points or more. The Pelicans on the other hand are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games as underdogs, and I think they have a good shot here.
NBA Pick: Pelicans +1 ½ at The Greek
Suns vs. Bulls
The Bulls looked like they hadn’t played in a month after coming back from the All Star Break last night, as they lost in Detroit badly. Now they have a tougher game against the Suns at home, a place that hasn’t been kind to the Bulls this season. However despite their struggles last night and prior to the All Star Break, the Bulls are still -8 ½ favorites in this one, with a total of 203.
What makes this one interesting is that the Bulls opened as bigger favorites of -11, however the chances of Brandon Knight being able to play tonight after being traded to Phoenix seem to be good. If Knight is able to play, I am in love with the Suns here at +8 ½, and I’m a Bulls fan.
Chicago is awful at home. They are 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games as favorites, and they are only 8-14 ATS this season as a home favorite. They have not been good on defense all season, and I think that plays a big role in letting the Suns stay in the game tonight. Both teams are coming off the back to back, and I see the Suns being able to take advantage of the sleeping Bulls, so take them with your NBA picks.
