With football winding down, Sundays are about to become NBA days. The league has given us a taste of that today, as 11 games line the schedule. With so many NBA Odds, I have found my two best bets for the evening, and I’m adding them to my NBA Picks.
Mavs vs. Pelicans
In a late breaking NBA odds this morning, the Mavs are a 2-½ point favorite tonight on the road in New Orleans, and the total is sitting at 201 ½. While the spread is inviting, injuries to the Pelicans makes this one difficult to handicap. Ryan Anderson will play tonight, however Jrue Holiday is still out and will probably remains out for at least a few more weeks. However without Holiday, I think the Pelicans might play up in pace a little with one of the league’s best offensive teams. Speaking of one of the league’s best offensive teams, having the Mavs with a total at just above 200 points is probably too low, so the over is where I’m going with this one.
The Mavs have cashed the over at 9-5 on the season when they have a total of 204 ½ or less, and it would be even better if they didn’t recently go on a four game slide of cashing the under. However that was more due to playing Memphis and Chicago in two games, and blowing out the Wolves and Nuggets in the other two. The Mavs won’t blow out New Orleans, but they will have to play their starters until the final buzzer. Look for a final score of about 105-100.

Wolves vs. Hawks
The Wolves are starting to get healthier, and while they may not be as bad as the Knicks or Sixers, they are in the tougher conference, which makes them look just as bad. However Nikola Pekovic made his return a few nights ago, and it appears as if Kevin Martin is only a few days away. However things aren’t going to be easy tonight against the East’s best team, as the NBA Odds have the Hawks favored at -18! However I am laying off the lofty spread, instead focusing my energies and bankroll on the total, which is sitting right at 200 points.
The Hawks have been stellar on defense this season, and it is one of the main reasons their team has ascended the East. However even with all of the Wolves’ injury notes, I still think this game’s total is too low. The Hawks should have very little problem getting well into the 100s for this game. The Wolves are giving up over 107 points per game, and if the Hawks can get past 110, this one is a lock.
The only thing that makes me a little nervous is that the Wolves might not have a point guard today. Both Zach LaVine and Mo Williams are questionable tonight, and of course Ricky Rubio is still not ready to return. I would expect Andrew Wiggins to run the point some of none of the Wolves’ point guards can go, but still with his raw ability, he could be able to break down Jeff Teague and company. The over is 10-4 in the Wolves’ last 14 games as an underdog of +11 of more, and I see more of the same tonight so take the over as your NBA pick.
