It's not a typically massive Friday slate like we're used to, but there are still plenty of games for us to break down. Let's take a closer look at the NBA odds on offer.

There are two massive favorites on the NBA odds board for Friday night, as the Golden State Warriors will play host to the beat-up Denver Nuggets and the Cleveland Cavaliers will be at home to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Here are two plays that stand out for tonight.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Los Angeles Lakers
Still winless on the season, the Nets have to be desperate to change that, and they face a favorable situation to do so this evening at home against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.

When we check out the currently available lines, we find Brooklyn is still favored by 3.5 points in spite of their terrible start. A high-scoring game is expected between these two teams, as the O/U is all the way up at 207.5 points as of now.

It really has been a brutal start for Brooklyn, as they're 0-5 and have lost four of those games by double digits. The Nets were last in action on Wednesday in a 101-87 road loss against Atlanta; they were hanging around and had their chances to take control against the Hawks, but ultimately fell short once again. In the early going of the season, Brook Lopez has been the best player for the Nets, averaging an even 20.0 points to go with 8.0 rebounds a game. Jarrett Jack, Bogan Bogdanovic and Thaddeus Young are all averaging in double figures too, but that hasn't translated into wins.

Maybe that will change for Brookyln against a Lakers team that is in the same boat. They've yet to win a game as well, and three of their four defeats have been by double digits.

Something's got to give tonight, and while it's hard not to get discouraged by Brooklyn's slow start, we feel more confident in the Nets at home than we do the Lakers. We expect them to come out hard and motivated to grab their first win, so we believe they have a good chance at the cover.

Sacramento Kings vs. Houston Rockets
We'll close out the NBA picks of the day by analyzing Sacramento's home game against James Harden and the Rockets.

As you'd expect, Houston is the clear-cut favorite, with the spread at 6.5 points across the board. Once again, we can expect a lot of points to be scored, as the total is listed at 216 points.

The Rockets have picked up two consecutive victories ahead of tonight's road game, beating Oklahoma City and Orlando at home, with both games coming down to the wire. After a rough 0-3 start, Houston has to be pleased to have bounced back in such a way, and you'd have to think they'll want to take care of business early against Sacramento before having to take on Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and the Clippers tomorrow night inside the Staples Center.

Sacramento, as you know, is still without DeMarcus Cousins, who continues to be sidelined with an Achilles issue. The Kings have gone 1-4 through their first five games of the season, and they've gotten blown out in two straight without Cousins on the court. There's a good chance another loss will be in the cards this evening against a talented, albeit banged up Houston team.

We really don't have much faith in the Kings at all so long as Cousins is out, and we anticipate the Rockets will be up for the challenge of making it three wins in a row. Some may be wary of rolling with the road favorites, but we like Houston's chances of topping a Sacramento squad that's missing its superstar.

NBA Pick: Rockets -6.5 at 5Dimes
