While there aren’t too many NBA games on tonight because of the NCAAF Championship game, there is still some nice value. While you’re watching the big college game tonight, here are some NBA Picks that could be great plays from Monday’s NBA Odds.

Rockets vs. Nets

Houston has been playing well recently, and now they have a trip into Brooklyn to play the Nets. The NBA Odds have the Rockets as -6 ½ favorites on the road, with a total of 193 points. Houston is 5-4 ATS this season when playing as road favorites, but they are only 7-6 ATS this season against the East. The Nets on the other hand have gone 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall, and they have gone only 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.

While pace and defense will likely be the name of the game here, I still think the Rockets will cover here. The Nets have no one who can defense James Harden for the entire game. Joe Johnson will likely take his turns defending Harden, but at this stage of his career Johnson’s defense is not enough to shut down Harden.

Brooklyn is only 1-5 ATS in their last six games as a home underdog, and in the same vein they are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games against winning teams. The Rockets on the other hand tend to beat teams they are supposed to, as they are 7-0 in their last seven games against teams with losing records.

My Pick: Rockets -6 ½

Pelicans vs. Celtics
The Boston Celtics are finally fire selling everyone on their roster not named Jared Sullinger, and it is really putting them in a position to tank the rest of the season away. It’s hard to imagine that four of the top five markets in all of the NBA are awful this season and tanking for draft position, and the Celtics are well on their way after trading both Rajon Rondo and now completing the deal to send Jeff Green to Memphis.

Now the Pelicans and Anthony Davis are coming into town, and without much roster left, the Pelicans should end up winning this game. The NBA Odds have New Orleans as solid -4 ½ favorites on the road, with a total of 204 ½. As long as the Pelicans don’t show up at all on defense in this game, they should easily cover that spread.

Despite losing two of their last three games ATS, the Pelicans are still 6-2 ATS in their last eight games, and 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games. While they haven’t been as successful ATS on the road as opposed to home, the Celtics have very little left on their roster to slow down New Orleans. Eric Gordon is now back and healthy for the Pelicans, and even though that doesn’t mean much it’s still going to help New Orleans win this game. Combine that with no one to defend Davis or Jrue Holiday for that matter, and you have a perfect storm when it comes to the Pelicans covering. Add them to your NBA Picks today!

My Pick: Pelicans -4 ½
