We split a pair of NBA Picks last night & now with another healthy slate of NBA Odds tonight, we are back at it once again. Find out which games we have decided to focus on due to their appealing value.
Celtics vs. Magic
The Celtics try to keep their hot streak alive on Sunday evening in Orlando, as they try and beat the Magic. The NBA Odds have Orlando as a +1 home underdog, however I am a bit more focused on the total of this one, which is sitting at only 198 ½.
Boston has been playing a lot better recently, even with the loss of Jared Sullinger for the season. Isaiah Thomas has stepped in to lead the Celtics on offense, and it is really helping this team that was starved for offense. In their last seven games they are 5-2 SU and ATS and their scoring has been improved during that stretch Boston is averaging almost 101 points per game. They have either scored or given up 100 + points in all but one of their last seven games, and I see that trend continuing tonight, even against the Magic.
The only issue is the health of Nikola Vucevic. Vucevic missed the Magic’s game on Friday with a sore ankle, and there is no word on whether he will play in tonight’s game. Victor Oladipo went nuts with Vucevic out of the lineup on Friday, and you can bet that he might do it again against the Celtics poor defense. So either way it goes tonight with Vucevic, the over looks like the play.
On the season Boston is 32-27-1 cashing the over, which is third best in the NBA. The Magic on the other hand has been cashing the under more recently, however they gave up 114 to the Kings on Friday, and in their last 17 games following giving up 100 or more points, the Magic have cashed the over at 12-4-1. The over is also 20-6-1 this season for the Celtics against teams with winning percentages of less than 40%. This total is way too low.
NBA Pick: OVER 198 ½ at Bookmaker
Mavs vs. Lakers
The final game of the evening is in Los Angeles tonight, as the Mavs come in to try and slow down a losing streak. Dallas has lost four of their last five games SU, and the bigger problem is most of them were really bad losses. In those four losses the have lost by an average of 15 points, so this game against the Lakers is by far a throwaway for this team. The Mavs come in as a -7 favorite in the NBA Odds tonight, but once again I am going with the total tonight of 202 ½.
The Mavs have given up 100 points per game in their last five, and this is good news for the Lakers. Even though they have lost four in a row, the Lakers have been playing better. They won three in a row for only the second time this season before their most recent losing streak, and even in those losses, they only lost by an average of five points. Three of the games were on the road too.
The over has cashed in six of the Lakers last eight games, and the over is 7-3 in their last ten games as home underdogs. This is a get-right game for the Mavs, and I see both teams playing well enough to score well into the 100s tonight. Even though the game is a slightly earlier start out West, it’s still a solid play as an NBA pick.
NBA Pick: OVER 202 ½
