It’s another big slate of Wednesday NBA Picks tonight with our third straight slate of NBA Odds of at least eight games, and I am back once again to release my two best bets.

Sixers vs. Pistons
The Pistons have been a tough team to figure out as of late, but the month of January can turn even some of the best teams into question marks on certain nights. Just look at what the Warriors did to the league’s best defense in the Spurs two nights ago. Last night though, the Sixers were in action at home and pretty easily dispatched the Suns who were once again without their two best guards, Brandon Knight, and of course Eric Bledsoe. Even though Archie Godwin is once again putting on a show when those two guys are out, only Goodwin and Alex Len showed up last night, and the rest of the Suns had pretty bad games.

The Sixers played well despite being without their top rookie, Jahlil Okafor, but Nerlens Noel owned the paint on defense, and it was enough for the Sixers to get a big win. Tonight however, the Sixers are in Detroit to play the Pistons, and the NBA Odds have them as +12½ underdogs at the Palace at Auburn Hills, with a total of 203½. The average sports bettor will look at the Sixers win last night and think they somehow turned a corner and will cover this massive spread tonight. However, looking deeper, the Suns are much worse than the Sixers when they don’t have Bledsoe or Knight, and tonight without Okafor again likely, the Pistons are the play.

Detroit dominated Philly in their first meeting of the season in Philadelphia, and tonight in the Motor City I expect more of the same, especially with the Sixers coming off the back to back. Philly is one of the worst teams in the NBA coming off no rest at 3-6 ATS and 0-9 SU, and even though the likes of Andre Drummond have been struggling, there is nothing like a game against Philly to get right. Detroit has been very good ATS at home this season, going 16-6-1 ATS in their last 23 games there dating back to the end of last season, and now that they are back home from their Western Conference road swing, the Pistons are the NBA pick.

Nuggets vs. Celtics
Another 7:30 PM Eastern game tonight is the Celtics playing host to the Nuggets, a team that is trying to surge their way up the Western Conference standings. In fact, both of these teams are fighting their way up the standings as the Celtics sit at 5th in the East after winning six of their last eight games SU, while the Nuggets are out of the cellar and only three games out of the 8th seed after only going 5-5 SU in their last ten games.

Tonight they play one another at TD Garden, and the NBA Odds have the Celtics as -8½ favorites in this one, but it’s the total that I am after tonight, which sits at 209 points.

While the Nuggets have not been winning too much recently, they have been playing well, and their offense has been the main reason for their improved play. Mike Malone’s team has scored an average of nearly 109 points per game in their last five games, and they are up against a Celtics team who has been crushing it as of late, averaging just over 111 points per game in their last ten contests.

With their hot streaks have come the over being a solid play, and I think that trend continued here tonight. The Nuggets are still giving up an average of 102 points per game on the road this season, and with the Celtics playing faster recently, their defense has ceded over 105 points per game in their last ten.

The over is 6-1 in the Nuggets’ last seven games overall coming into this one, and it’s 5-2 for the Celtics in their last seven overall as well. While Denver is a little more reliable on offense at home this season, I still think they can come through for us on the over tonight.
