The NBA won’t have their classic early afternoon Sunday games. However, there two special games this evening on the NBA odds board, and they hold nice value for our NBA picks.

Knicks vs. Celtics
The Celtics are dealing with some slight injury concerns to some of their big men, however, tonight against the Knicks that could be less of a concern. Both of these teams played last night in different cities, and both teams probably got into or back to Boston very late last night. The NBA Odds are bot out completely at all the sportsbooks, but the early NBA odds have the Celtics as -7½ favorites, with a total of 201½.

While Boston got a good win last night on the road against the Pistons, the Knicks got blown out by the Hawks in Atlanta. Neither team has been bad so far this season coming off the back to back with the Celtics at 3-3 ATS, and the Knicks at a solid 4-2 ATS. However, the Knicks are starting to come back down to earth after a hot start to the season, and the collapse is starting with their defense. New York has given 105 points per game in their last three games, and they are 1-2 ATS in both of those. New York is also 2-7 ATS in their last nine road games, and it could be another game where they fall short on the road. New York is averaging only 93.6 points per game in those last nine road games, and if you take away their easy road wins against the Blazers and Sixers, they are averaging less than 90 points per game in those other seven road games. Needless to say, the Knicks could struggle against the Celtics tonight in the Boston Garden. While they haven’t played yet this season, Boston is 2-1 ATS in their last three meetings with the Knicks, and the Celtics are 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall this season.

Blazers vs. Kings
In one of the more surprising games of last night’s big Saturday slate, the Blazers jumped out on the Cavaliers on the day after Christmas and never let go. Before you could say Lebron James last night, the Blazers had a double-digit lead, then a 20-point and then a 30-point lead against the defending Eastern Conference champs. Tonight, the Blazers will have a chance to parlay that into another win against the Kings, however, the Kings come in as a -7 ½ favorite, with a total of 208.

However, while the spread is inviting, the total is a much safer, and probably more valuable play. Neither one of these teams plays a whole lot of defense, and outside of their random excellent game against the Cavs last night, the Blazers have been anything but a good team. There is also the issue for the Blazers that they could be without Damian Lillard once again tonight, who missed his third straight game with plantar fasciitis last night. However, while his absence is a concern for the Blazers here off the back to back, that’s why I think the over could be the best play.

Without Lillard to deal with, Rajon Rondo might show up and play big tonight on offense with the rest of the Kings, and if that’s the case, the over is the right play here. Despite the slightly earlier start, the Kings should be ready to go against a Blazers team coming off a game last night. The Kings are giving up nearly 108 points per game to the Western Conference, and with the slight amount of fourth quarter rest the Blazers got last night, they should be able to rack up the points once again and give you the winning NBA pick.
