NBA Picks of the Day: Cash-In Big With Tonight's Prime O/U Duo

It’s a nice sized slate of NBA action here on Wednesday, and after splitting a pair of my NBA Picks, and winning my loan single game play, let’s see if we can keep the winning going here tonight.

Lakers vs. Celtics
Other than your handful of small spreads tonight, most of the games this evening have some major blowout potential. The Celtics are one of those teams, and right now the NBA Odds have the Celtics as -12½ favorites, which is not even the highest spread of the evening. Unless I have some faith in the underdog in these situations, I normally lay off the spread entirely when it’s double digits, and that’s exactly what I’m doing with this game. However, the total of 205 points is sitting there seemingly begging me to bet the over, and after cashing big on a very high scoring game last night between the Hawks and Rockets, I think one could be in order tonight in Boston.

LA’s bad defense has been well documented this season, and on the road against the Celtics it won’t make it much easier. However, the Celtics are still giving up an average of 98 points per game at home this season, while averaging about 103 per game in their own scoring column, and 107 points per game against Western Conference teams.

One issue is Boston’s defense, which has climbed to the third best team in Defensive Efficiency behind only Golden State and San Antonio at 97.4. LA will need to at least get to 95 or more points tonight if we want to cash the over. The Lakers have been at 96 or higher on the two games of this current road trip against the Hornets and Grizzlies, so I have faith in them getting into the high 90s for the over.

Warriors vs. Mavericks
Speaking of high scoring games, the Warriors head out on the road to play the Mavs tonight, and the NBA Odds have the Dubs at -8½ on the road, with a total of 212. The Warriors have played a lot differently on the road this season than at home. While their ATS record remains pretty steady no matter where they’re playing, the over seems to cash a ton on the road for them this season. At home they are 7-8 in total betting, but on the road Golden State has cashed the over at 11-4 this season.

Tonight against Dallas, it seems like the over is once again in play for these two teams. This will be their first meeting this season, but two of the last three times they have played in Dallas the total has gone over. On top of that, the over has cashed in 11 of the Dubs last 14 games overall, and it’s 10-1 in their last 11 road games. With the Mavs coming off a three game stretch where they averaged over 113 points per game, it seems like the over is the only safe wager for this game. Surprisingly, even though they are one of the top rated teams in Defensive Efficiency this season, the Warriors give up nearly 107 points per game on the road this year. Look for the over for your NBA Picks.
