We took a big bite of pavement over the last few days, but we are staying disciplined, and following my NBA Picks for the season will keep you on the path to profit.

***Sunday's NBA Prop Bets***

Suns vs. Dallas
The Suns are suddenly getting a little healthier, and while they won’t have Brandon Knight for at least one more game, the Suns have been able to get back most of their injured roster outside of their top two guards of course. Tonight, they head into Dallas to face the Mavs, and the NBA odds boards have Phoenix as a huge +10½ underdog, with a total of 201½.

While the spread has done very little movement since it opened outside of shortening just a bit, it’s the total that has been on the move the most. Since opening at over 207 ½ points, the total has dropped six full points, which would normally signal that the sharps have a beat on the under being the play.

However, I think there were some people just following the movement of this one, because it has gotten to the points where changing direction, and buying low on the over for this total is becoming a viable option.

These two teams have cashed the over in two of their last three matchups dating back to the end of last season, and while the Suns have had may troubles scoring the ball on the road this season, but their lack of defense has insured that they have a chance to cash the over in this lower total tonight.

The Suns have given up 110 points per game in their last three games on this road trip, overall they are giving up 107 points per game this season, and over 110 points per game on the road. Dallas hasn’t been that great on defense either, so with that in mind, and with the Mavs cashing the over in four of their last six games heading into this one, I see a final score of about 109-93, meaning the over is the NBA pick.

Hornets vs. Lakers
The Hornets crashed and burned in their last two games on this West Coast road swing, but tonight they play a much lesser talent in the Lakers at the Staples Center. Playing in Portland or Utah is two of the tougher places to play for an East Coast team traveling west, and tonight against the Lakers, even if Kobe Bryant is ready to go, I think the Hornets can cover this spread. The NBA Odds have the Hornets as -4 road favorites in this one, with a total of 201 in the final game of the evening.

While the Lakers are 4-2 ATS at home against the Eastern Conference, most if not all those wins came as covered as big underdogs. Now as only slight +4 dogs, and even with the injuries to the Hornets, Charlotte is good enough defensively to give the Lakers’ wings a lot of trouble, and if they can’t score, the Hornets should cruise to victory in what could also be a lower scoring game.

However, I am laying off the spread as much as I want to bet it, and instead going with the total. Nic Batum has already been ruled out of this game, and with almost every other reliable scorer out for the Hornets except for Kemba Walker, this could be another lower scoring game for the Hornets. Charlotte has only scored 73 and 91 points respectfully over their last two, and while neither team has been great on defense either on the road or at home, with the earlier start time and the lack of scoring prowess from either team, I see it hard for this total to go over tonight.

The under has now cashed in four of the last six games for the Hornets, and it’s been even better for the Lakers at 10-4 in their last 14 home games. Expect a similar result in Sunday's game.
