It’s the beginning of another week and after a rollercoaster weekend of NBA picks, I am back once again to try and tip off this big slate right. Monday’s NBA odds are plentiful to say.

NBA Pick: Nets +2.5
Best Line Offered: at Heritage

Magic vs. Nets
The Nets are a team you look at and think that they might be a viable playoff team this season, but they have been anything but good, and the Celtics love every last second of it, because they own Brooklyn’s first round pick this season. The Celtics will be silently cheering for the Magic tonight, as Orlando comes in as a -2 ½ road favorite in this one, with a total of 198 points. After stringing together a nice stretch of five straight wins, the Magic have lost three of their last four games SU, but they have covered in three of those four as well despite the SU losses. This is a team starting to come around in the Eastern Conference, and while they may be better than the Nets, I think they are also overvalued tonight. Who would have thought that in 2015, the Magic would be overvalued?

Brooklyn has won at home against the Magic in their last six trips there dating back to the 2012-2013 season, and with Brooklyn on such a long home stand right now, it makes sense that they can squeeze out another win here. The Nets’ home defense is improving and a good night tonight could move up below 100 points per game, and as long as they keep Orlando below that mark, I think the Nets’ offense can score on the Magic. Despite Orlando playing well on defense this season, the Nets have won a few games on this home stand against the Rockets and Sixers, and I see them ending the Magic’s run of being a solid bet ATS tonight. The Nets are 6-3 ATS this season when playing as home dogs.

NBA Pick: Heat +6.5
Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

Heat vs. Hawks
The Hawks are stuck in NBA purgatory all the time, but after last season it seemed as if they had finally made the leap from average/good to great. However, after starting this season 7-1 SU, the Hawks have lost 10 of their last 17 games SU, and they are 6-11 ATS in that same stretch. The Hawks’ lack of a go-to scorer might finally be catching up to them. Coaches may be figuring out how to guard them better, or even play better against their defense. The Hawks are giving up close to 100 points per game on the season, and even the road-scoring starved Miami Heat might be able to make up against this team.

The NBA odds tonight have the Hawks as -6 favorites against the Heat, with a total of 191 points. Miami did play last night and had a tough game against the Grizzlies which they won, but now they hit the road, a place they have gone only 2-5 ATS this season.

We have taken advantage of two Miami Heat road games in the last week, and both plays easily cashed, however, for this Heat road excursion, I am leaning towards actually taking the points.

As long as no one important sits for the Heat tonight, I think they can slow down the Hawks enough to keep this game lower scoring and more to the pace of the Heat. While Miami is only 1-5 ATS on the road against the East this season, since the Lebron James years in Miami, the Heat have been very good at playing on no rest. Since 2010, the Heat are 78-35 ATS on the second night of a back-to-back, which is the best mark in the league since then at 69 percent. Take the points with Miami tonight as the sharp NBA pick.
