We cashed both of our NBA Picks yesterday evening and now we head into a short slated Tuesday evening. I've found a couple of plays that look like great value based on NBA Odds tonight.
Knicks vs. Jazz
The Knicks couldn’t even get to 80 points last night against the Nuggets’ poor defense, and now they face one of the better young defensive teams in the NBA tonight as they head into Utah. The NBA Odds have the Jazz as huge -13 ½ favorites in this one, and with the Knicks coming off the back to back, it could be an easy win for the Jazz. However I am a bit more focused on the total of 184 ½, which is the lowest of any game tonight (The Greek is offering as low as 182).
After the Knicks couldn’t even get to 80 points last night, they might not get to 70 tonight. The Jazz have been one of the best teams in the NBA since the trade deadline. In seven games since the trade deadline, the Jazz have only given up an average of 84 points per game. This is to really good teams too, so don’t be surprised if the Knicks stay in the mid to upper 60s tonight in points if the Jazz show up.
The under is also 26-9 in the Jazz’ last 35 games, and the under is 8-2 for Utah in their last ten games against losing teams. On top of that the under is 4-1 in their last five games at home. On the other side, the Knicks have cashed the under in 11 of their last 15 road games, and in four of their last five games playing on a back to back. Take the under tonight.
NBA Pick: UNDER 183 ½
Pistons vs. Lakers
The hammer game tonight will feature the Lakers and Pistons from Staples Center, as the NBA Odds are much closer for this game than they are for the Knicks and Jazz. The NBA Odds have the Lakers as +2 home dogs in this game, but once again I am looking at the total for my NBA pick here, which sits just under 200 points. The Lakers’ defense might be just bad enough to allow the Pistons to score well into the 100s tonight, and if that’s the case, the over is a great play here with a 199-point total.
The over is 4-0-1 in the Lakers’ last five games against losing teams, while the Pistons have cashed the over in five of their last seven games against losing teams. The Lakers are also 5-1-1 cashing the over in their last seven home games, while the Pistons have cashed the over in four of their last five games as road favorites.
The big men from Detroit will be way too much to handle for the Lakers’ bigs tonight. The combination of Ed Davis and Jordan Hill are solid, but they are nowhere near the level of Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe. The Pistons are probably going to be at least plus ten on the rebounds and second chance points in this game, and if their offense travels along with their rebounding, they’ll score around 110 points in this one. The Lakers have given up 102 points per game in their last five games, so don’t be surprised if the Pistons get into triple digits tonight.
NBA Pick: OVER 199
