It’s a great Sunday of NBA action! The betting Odds are plentiful, and after splitting a pair of Picks last night, let’s see if we can get off the merry-go-round of mediocrity, cashing these Picks tonight.
Blazers vs. Rockets
Our first play comes courtesy of Sports Insights and the system I created over there a few weeks ago. It’s betting the under between winning teams that have a total between 196 ½ and 204. These NBA Odds favor the Rockets at -5, and the total is sitting right at 203 points. This should be an excellent value, even though the Rockets will still be without Dwight Howard. The Blazers will have some trouble still scoring on the road, and while they won’t shut him down, the Rockets do have enough bodies to keep throwing rested guys out there against LaMarcus Aldridge.
The under is 14-6 in the last 20 games the Rockets have been home favorites, and it’s 18-8 in the last 26 home games overall. Portland is coming off a back to back in Dallas last night where they could only score 101 against a worse defense. In their last eight games playing on no rest, the Blazers have cashed the under at 6-2. The under is also 4-1 for the Blazers in their last five Sunday games, ad 4-0 after allowing 100 or more points the game before. I doubt Portland will get into the 100s in this one, and if that’s the case, the under is the play.
NBA Pick: UNDER 203 at 5Dimes
Spurs vs. Raptors
The Toronto Raptors are 4-11 SU in their last 15 games against winning teams, and tonight they host the Spurs in one of the later Sunday games. Both teams should be rested after being off Saturday, and the NBA Odds are very close, favoring the Spurs at -1 ½, with a total of 201. Even though I am tempted to lay the points with the San Antonio on the road, this game is once again a prime play according to our system from Sports Insights.
I mentioned the Raptors bad record against winning teams, but another trend has emerged from those games, and it’s been the under. The under is 8-1 in the Raptors last nine games against winning teams. Despite them beating up on bad teams, the Raptors are who we thought they were finally. They look like a middle of the pack team that might win a playoff series, but won’t get past the 2nd round, even in the East.
However we can definitely make money off them tonight with the Spurs. The Spurs have cashed the under in five of their last seven games, and six of their last eight road games. The under is also 5-1 for the Spurs against teams with winning percentages above 60%, and 5-1 in their last six road games against teams with winning home records. Both of these teams play at slow paces that rank them 20th and 21st in the NBA. I don’t expect too many shots early in the shot clock in this one, and I could see some good defense played too. Take the under once again on this Sunday night matchup.
