It’s the end of the week, and here on Sunday we have some nice Odds to add to our NBA Picks today. While there are some early-afternoon games, I have chosen night games that have betting value.
Blazers vs. Hornets
The Blazers are in the midst of an East Coast road trip, which stops tonight in the city of Charlotte. Right now the Hornets are solid NBA Odds favorites of -4 1/2, but should they really be this much of a favorite? I could argue that the Blazers will still have the best two players on the floor, and even though this is a Nicholas Batum revenge game, I don’t think that will be enough to keep the Blazers from covering. Although Damian Lillard is dealing with a slight injury to his thumb after losing most of the nail on his right hand, I don’t think it will be a long-term injury that hurts his shooting too much. In reality, the Hornets don’t have much in regards to slowing down the Blazers’ guards, and while the Blazers might not have much in regards to stopping the Hornets, I think they can keep it close enough to cover as +4 ½ underdogs.
Charlotte has been really undervalued to start the season at 5-3-1 ATS. While Portland is only 5-5 ATS, playing in the West will do that. Now that they are on the road and up against a team that is now starting to look overvalued, the Blazers might end up covering tonight. Plus, Charlotte has been great on the road ATS this season, but they are only 1-2 ATS at home, and the only reason they have the one win is because they somehow destroyed Chicago a few weeks ago. Charlotte’s defense is also not as prolific as typically thought, as they are giving up close to 100 points per game on the year. I see a final score of about 103-100 in favor of the Hornets, meaning the Blazers are our NBA Picks Sunday.
NBA Pick: Blazers +4 ½ at 5Dimes
Raptors vs. Kings
Another road team I have my eye on tonight is Toronto, who is on the road in Sacramento to play the Kings. Right now the NBA Odds have the Raptors as only -3 favorites on the road, and despite how good Toronto has looked at times this season, they are still undervalued. Rudy Gay missed the Kings’ last game a few days ago with the stomach flu, and if he can’t go again tonight, it could really hurt the Kings offense. While DeMarcus Cousins has been carrying this team on his back, he and Rajon Rondo can not do it all against a good defensive team like Toronto.
The Raptors are 4-2 ATS so far this season when playing away from home, while the Kings are only 3-5 ATS to start the season at home. Toronto also has the luxury of throwing a bunch of different guys at Rondo tonight, which should limit his triple-double run of greatness. While Toronto will struggle to stop Cousins, he alone won’t be enough to upset or even force a cover against the Raptors. As long as Toronto can limit everyone else not named Cousins on the floor, this looks like a fantastic opportunity for a road cover for the Raptors.
NBA Pick: Raptors -3 at The Greek
