We've got a larger-than-normal basketball betting slate this week, with five games to break down and analyze. How can we best exploit the NBA odds? Join us as we share tonight's winning NBA picks.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Dallas Mavericks
The Hornets finally got their first win of the season a couple nights ago, and they did it in style.

Despite being priced as underdogs on the NBA Odds Board, Charlotte was relentless in a dominant 130-105 blowout of Chicago at home. The Hornets took the early lead and never looked back, and it ended up being an easy cash for those that backed the home team with their NBA Picks. Tonight, we can expect more resistance out of Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks, with Dallas pinned as four-point favorites at home. The total is trading at 196 points, a number that was right in line with what we expected to see.

The Mavericks have alternated wins and losses over their first four games of the season, beating Phoenix and the LA Lakers (both on the road) while losing to the LA Clippers and Toronto. They've been extra cautious with the likes of Deron Williams, Wesley Matthews and Chandler Parsons as all three work themselves back to full strength following injuries.

That being said, we should see Dallas roll out their preferred starting five tonight, which would be Williams-Matthews-Parsons-Nowitkzi-Pachulia, and it's a group that should grow together and become quite formidable if all goes as planned.

As for tonight, we believe the Mavericks will be up for the challenge against the Hornets and that they'll be able to make enough plays to win and cover the small number at home. Dallas will want to make it up to their fans after a tough home loss to the Raptors the other night, and this evening's game sets up as a favorable situation for them to do just that.

NBA Pick: Dallas Mavericks -4 at 5Dimes

Memphis Grizzlies vs. Portland Trail Blazers
Our next stop is in Portland, where the Trail Blazers will entertain Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph and the Grizzlies. Looking at the betting lines, we find Memphis favored by four points despite being on the road. With this being a back-to-back spot for Portland, we can't say we're surprised to see the Grizzlies as the chalk.

The Trail Blazers have performed better than perhaps a lot of people expected following the exodus that took place over the offseason. This is a team that lost four starters from last season (Aldridge, Batum, Lopez, Matthews), yet Portland has managed to go 3-2 through its first five games, with victories over Utah, Minnesota and New Orleans. Last night the Trail Blazers were terrific in a 108-92 road win over the Jazz, as Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum combined for 62 points.

Will Portland be ready to go again tonight, this time against an experienced Memphis squad? The Grizzlies are also 3-2 on the season, with their latest win coming on the road over a Sacramento team that was without DeMarcus Cousins. We were surprised to see Memphis get blown out so badly by both Golden State and Cleveland in their two defeats, but at least they've managed to bounce back after both of those very disappointing efforts.

We've looked at this matchup closely, and at the end of the day we see the Grizzlies holding the clear edge. They may have a little trouble slowing down Lillard and McCollum, but their interior presence should prove to be too much for Portland to handle here. Both Gasol and Randolph should have effective games matched up with the Trail Blazers' young and inexperienced frontcourt.

The Grizzlies came through for us the other night, and we're going right back to the well tonight. They should be able to assert themselves against a Portland team that will be playing its second game in as many nights.

NBA Pick: Memphis Grizzlies -4 at Bovada
