NBA Picks of the Day: Best Plays After a Perfect Saturday

It was another perfect day of NBA Picks on Saturday evening as we cashed both of our total plays, and I am back for Sunday evening with a couple more plays. The NBA Odds are ripe with value.

Pelicans vs. Rockets
New Orleans is on the verge of a playoff berth, and tonight they have a very tough task ahead of them. New Orleans is a +5 ½ underdog against the Rockets, and with a playoff spot on the line in their final three games of the season, a win here could mean a lot. The Thunder are on the road in Indiana about an hour earlier in the evening, so the Pelicans will not have the benefit of knowing the Thunder score until probably in the second half.

The NBA odds for the spread on this one is pretty sharp however, and instead I think the total of 200 presents some better value. The Rockets have cashed the over in four of their last five games, and with Dwight Howard back it gives their offense another slight bump in a contest like this one. The Rockets are still trying to get a home game to start their playoff run, and recent losses have made them slip to 6th as of today. However that means they’ll be playing this game to win as well. The over has cashed in the Rockets last five home games, and in six of their last seven games as favorites. The Pelicans have actually been cashing the under more recently, but the over is 12-5 in their last 17 games as underdogs, and I see that trend continuing tonight.

NBA Pick: OVER 200

Suns vs. Spurs
The Suns officially dropped out of the playoff race a few nights ago, but playing the Spurs here presents a good opportunity for some NBA Odds value, despite the fact that the Suns have nothing left to play for. The sportsbooks have the Suns as huge +15 ½ underdogs in this one, however the spread is simply off limits for me tonight. Instead the total once again presents some nice late-season value, and with it sitting under 200 points at 199 ½, the under looks like a solid play.

The Suns offense has completely fallen off a cliff here late in the season, and this early evening start won’t help it either. In their last four games the Suns have scored an average of only 84 points per game, and tonight against a good defensive Spurs team with a lot left to play for, the Suns likely won’t get to 90 points once again. If that’s the case, as long as the Spurs gun for this one until the end, the under is the play. San Antonio does not play again until Wednesday, and by then their playoff seed could be sealed for them. If this is the last chance they have to put pressure on another team, they’ll do it.

Keep in mind when preparing your NBA picks, that the total has gone under in both meetings between these two teams this season, and in the most recent one the Suns didn’t get to 75 points. The under is 25-10 for the Suns in their last 35 games, the under is 5-0 in their last five games on Sundays, and it’s cashed in nine of their last 12 games as dogs.
