We once again split a pair of our NBA Picks on Friday, and even though we have been floating around .500 for the week, the Saturday slate of NBA action brings about some nice value.

Bulls vs. Hawks
One of the earlier starts to the Saturday slate of games is the Bulls and Hawks from Atlanta. The NBA Odds have the Hawks as -2 favorites at home, with a total of 208. While the Hawks have been playing better since around the middle of December, they have not been great ATS recently, dropping four of their last six games against the number.

The Bulls on the other hand have been red hot recently, and their offense under new head coach, Fred Hoiberg seems to finally be coming around. The Bulls are on a six game winning streak dating back to right after Christmas, and in that stretch they have gone 4-2 ATS, and have averaged scoring nearly 108 points per game during that stretch.

Tonight I think the Bulls are the play, even on the road against a pretty tough team. The Hawks will have no answer for Jimmy Butler, who has been crushing it in the Bulls last six games, and with all five Bulls starters regularly getting into double figures during the streak, the Hawks likely wont have many answers for Chicago’s depth.

The Hawks are only 8-10-1 ATS when playing at home this season, and even though these teams have yet to play one another this season, both are playing much differently than last season. Under Tom Thibodeau last season, the Bulls’ offense was one of the most underperforming units in the league, while the Hawks were soaring past their expectations right into the Eastern Conference Finals. This year is much different, and the Hawks’ defense has not been as impressive as it was a season ago. With Atlanta only 2-4-1 ATS in their last seven home games, and with the Bulls riding a hot streak, I see an upset brewing tonight.

Nets vs. Pistons
Brooklyn is coming off yet another loss last night, and now after scoring only 77 points last night, they have to travel into Detroit to play the Pistons. The NBA Odds have the Pistons as huge -11½ favorites, but the total of 195½ seems like a much better option instead of this giant spread where you can’t trust either team.

Coming off the back to back this season, the Nets are 4-2 cashing the under, and with both teams playing at an average to below average pace this season, the shot opportunities might be less tonight. We have reached the point in the season where the under is going to start being a really good play in some cases, and this may be one of those cases. The Nets are already a bad offensive team, and neither one of these teams rank very highly in Offensive Efficiency. With the dog days of January upon us, and with teams starting to put up less points and play more defense, I am going with the under on this one.

Detroit and the Nets both rank in the lower third in the league in ORtg, and the Pistons have surprisingly been a top ten team this season when it comes to DRtg. On top of that, the Nets are 11-6 cashing the under on the road this season, and a lot of that has to do with their road scoring of only 96.7 points per game this year. Brooklyn has now failed to score at least 80 points in their last two games, and they are now going up against a team tonight off the back to back that is better defensively than both those teams. Even though Detroit has been a good offensive team at home, I see a final score of about 103-90, making the under the NBA pick.
