It’s another big night of NBA action here on Tuesday. With that being said, let’s make it tonight with two, hopefully winning NBA Picks. Join us inside to get those free selections for today.

Pelicans vs. Wizards
It’s officially the start of tanking season, and while the Wizards still have an outside shot at making the playoffs, they aren’t as good as the teams currently ahead of them, and once they learn that they should be all aboard the tank express. The same can be said about the Pelicans, and with the NBA odds for this one favoring Washington at -5, with a total of 213½, this one is tricky.

The Wizards just made an ignorant trade giving up a protected first round pick for Markieff Morris. No one was even close to giving up anything for Morris, but I think that move was made more for next year than this one. If Washington is content with getting back into the lottery this season, the Morris pick should come back to them if they fall inside the top ten in the lottery. The Pelicans know they are going to be in the lottery, so while this game has potential to be hard fought and good, it also has the potential to get out of hand and have very little defense.

While the game total is intriguing, I think the first half total of 108½ is actually a better wager on the over. If these two teams come out fast, there should be plenty of scoring between the two of them in the first half of this one. These two teams both play very fast, and both have pace factors in the top 12 in the league.

While these two teams are more adept at cashing the over in other home/road circumstances, I think the first half total is a nice way to remedy that risk. They cashed the over against one another in their first meeting this season, and the Pelicans have cashed the full game total in four of their last five games overall. With both teams giving up 106 points per game or more in their last ten games, tanking season is in full swing, and that means less defense as the season gets closer to March and April.

Rockets vs. Jazz
The Rockets and Jazz might not be the most desirable game to watch or wager on tonight, but this one presents some nice NBA Odds value. Right now the spread is in favor of Utah at -5, but the total of 202½ is where I am most interested in. It has gone up two full points from where it opened, and some books are even putting the number at 203 as of this morning.

This could be because of how the Jazz have been playing recently. Utah’s defense has given up 106 points per game in their last five games, and while they could easily fix that tonight, the Jazz have already given up 103 points to the Rockets once this season in Houston, and while Utah plays much better defense at home, the Rockets play worse defense on the road, giving Utah the chance to get well into the 100s tonight.

Nine of the last 11 games for Houston have gone over the total, and in those last five games for the Jazz the total has gone over in four of them. While most of those games were on the road, the Rockets have cashed the overt at 17-10 this season when playing on the road. I see a final score of about 106-99, so add the over to your NBA Picks.
