I was a little surprised to see the Sacramento Kings favored by more than a couple buckets in the NBA odds when they take on the New York Knicks in Sacramento. Will they be the best NBA pick?

NBA odds
NBA odds makers have come out making Sacramento a solid -5.5 -105 favorite at most places like Heritage Sports. For my NBA pick tonight, I will lay the points with a Sacramento team that at times can play brilliantly with the talent to compete with some of the best teams in the league.

New York Knicks
The Knicks are averaging 97.2 points per game while shooting 42.4% from the field, and allowing 98.5 points per game with opponents shooting 42.6% from the field.  Overall things have changed in New York which can be somewhat attributed to Kristaps Porzingas who has taken the NBA by storm. Still, this is Carmelo Anthony's team and unfortunately outside of those two there is not a whole lot of depth with them. Since a nice little four game win streak, the Knicks have struggled losing six of their last eight with their only wins against the Sixers and Nets, both at home. Offensively they are still pretty stagnant and not very efficient 46.8% in effective field goals. Defensively they have been much better than last year which has helped them be more competitive. In allowing opponents 30.8% shooting from distance, they rank first in the league, but in the paint they are allowing 42.5 points per game which ranks 21st in the league. This could be trouble for them tonight as the Kings, although a decent three point shooting team, do most of their damage in the interior.

Sacramento Kings
The Kings are averaging 105.2 points per game while shooting 45.3% from the field, and allowing 108.7 points per game with opponents shooting 46.4% from the field.  Rajon Rondo is having a well publicized resurgence, but like Carmelo with the Knicks, there is really only one big dog, DeMarcus Cousins who is averaging a double double. In their past eight games they have had about the same success as the Knicks only winning three of those, but the level of competition has been much different facing a stretch of Golden State, Dallas, Boston, Houston (playing better now), and OKC. They recently had a nice home win against a pretty good team in the Jazz that are skewed the same as New York, good defense and not so good offense. For the most part, the Kings have been just subpar defending both the perimeter and the paint, but offensively they have been clicking. The Kings rank fifth in the league in three point percentage and first in points in the paint. I simply don't see the Knicks being able to keep up with Sacramento tonight on the road.

With the Kings sporting a losing record, the line seems a bit too high but actually they should win this game going away. For one of your NBA picks, I recommend backing them in this spot to take it to New York and win this game in easy fashion.
