The Spurs play host to the Suns this evening, and after a tough game last night against the Wolves, the Suns have to travel into San Antonio tonight as large underdogs. Find out why we are adding a first half play to our NBA picks tonight.

The NBA odds have opened with San Antonio as a -15 ½ favorite in this game with a total of an even 200 points, so which side of these lines should we back this evening?

The Western Conference leading San Antonio Spurs have been almost unbeatable this season at home both SU and ATS. The Spurs are 13-9-2 ATS and an incredible 22-2 SU at home this season, but as you can see from the -15 ½ point spread, a win is almost guaranteed tonight.

The spread is high, and for the first time in a while, the Spurs have been playing ok defense, (93.7 points per game allowed in their last seven games) so I’m laying off the total as well. Instead, I’m going with the first half spread, which should be around 7 ½ points.

The Spurs are fresh for this game while the Suns have to travel, and the Spurs just beat Phoenix in Arizona a few days ago. In that game, the Spurs had a 14 points lead in that game, and now at home, I think 7-8 points for the first half could be the best option for our sports picks in this matchup.

The Spurs always start fast at home and if this new found defensive streak they are on is real, I could see an easy double digit lead at the half for San Antonio. The Spurs are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games against Phoenix, but the largest spread of those games was -9.

Coming off their late night game last night, Phoenix will be tired, and the Spurs will take advantage, and put this game away early. I foresee a big lead for San Antonio at the end of the first half.

My Pick: Spurs -7 ½ 1H
