Despite this impressive start to the season for the Suns, they're not being given much of a chance tonight. The Pacers are favored by as many as 11.5 points in the NBA odds, while the O/U is holding steady at 199.5.
Coming in, Indiana is 35-9 SU and 29-15 ATS, with Phoenix sitting at 27-18 SU and 30-14-1 ATS. As you can see, both teams have been incredibly profitable to back with your sports picks.
The Suns have won three in a row and five of their previous six ahead of tonight's tilt at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
With victories over Indiana (124-100), Denver (117-103), Cleveland (99-90), Philadelphia (124-113) and Milwaukee (126-117), Phoenix has moved into second place in the Pacific Division. They also currently hold the sixth seed in the Western Conference.
Last night the Suns took care of the Bucks with relative ease, although Jeff Hornacek can't be too pleased with his team's defense throughout. Phoenix was out-scored on the fast break and in the paint but still held on for the win.
Goran Dragic led the way with 30 points, six assists and four rebounds, while Gerald Green went for 23 points. Channing Frye, Marcus Morris and Markieff Morris all scored in double figures too, while Alex Len had a great game (seven points, 10 rebounds) off the bench.
Now the focus goes to trying to make it four straight victories. On the road this season the Suns have gone a very healthy 17-6 ATS, while going 5-5 SU and 6-4 ATS in the second games of back-to-backs so far.
A five-game road trip out west has come to an end, with the Pacers going 3-2 SU. Wins came over Golden State, Sacramento and the LA Lakers, while the losses were in Phoenix and Denver.
To close out the swing, Indiana topped the Lakers 104-92 inside the Staples Center, thanks in large part to another huge night from Lance Stephenson. He had 15 points, 14 rebounds, six assists and two steals in the win.
Paul George posted a 14/6/5 line, Roy Hibbert had a double-double and the rest of Indiana's starters (along with Danny Granger) hit double figures too.
The Pacers are obviously on a good roll right now, at 7-2 SU (6-3 ATS) over their last nine contests. They're still firmly in the top spot in the East and will like their chances of extending that gap tonight at home.
In their own building, Indiana has been a force. They're a ridiculous 21-1 straight up and have gone a highly respectable 16-6 against the spread as well. The Suns are most definitely going to have their work cut out for them.
In the first meeting of the season between these teams, which was only eight days ago, the Suns dominated in a 124-100 win at home.
Six different Suns scored in double figures, with the team shooting a combined 54.2 percent overall and 68.8 percent (11-of-16) from beyond the arc. Dragic and Green combined for 44 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals in the backcourt.
Don't expect Indiana to have forgotten about that game. We expect a much better performance out of the Pacers tonight, but that still doesn't make them the best bet with our NBA picks.
This is a heck of a lot of points to be getting with a solid Phoenix team, so we're backing the chalk in our NBA picks. Take the Suns to make a game of it this evening.
