We rebounded from an 0-3 effort on Friday to go 3-0 Saturday. Ahh, such is life, betting the NBA. What might Sunday have in store for the smart sports bettor?

We'll try to lean toward the “feast” rather than the “famine” with our free NBA picks for Sunday.

Hawks PK vs. Grizzlies (3:05 p.m. ET)

Atlanta is 1-3 this exhibition season, after losing to San Antonio Thursday 106-104. The Hawks trailed that game by 15 points heading into the fourth quarter, but with several starters still in the game rallied to tie it, before losing on a bucket with three seconds left.

That rally gave Atlanta the cover as three-point underdogs.

Memphis is 2-2 this preseason, after beating Orlando Friday 97-91. Four Grizzlies starters played at least 24 minutes, and Memphis covered as three-point favorites.

These two teams split two games last year, but the Hawks covered the spread both games as underdogs.

Atlanta made several personnel changes over the off-season, and still has a couple of jobs open for competition. Also, all five Hawks starters played at least 30 minutes Friday night.

Memphis, meanwhile, seems pretty set; the Grizzlies are going to be one of the best teams in the West again this year, and therefore can use the exhibition season to get the vets in shape, and develop depth.

The early line on this game was all over the place; one NBA betting outlet we checked Sunday morning listed at Atlanta at -4, while another had the game at a "Pick'em." Our guess is within a short time most sportsbooks will be offering this game with the Hawks favored by about a bucket.

In believing Atlanta is trying to do a little more with this preseason than Memphis, we'll go with the Hawks for our free NBA pick on this one.

Thunder vs. Jazz (7:05 p.m. ET)

OKC is 2-1 this exhibition season, after losing to New Orleans Thursday 105-102. The Thunder shot 49 percent from the floor, but committed 28 fouls, which led to the Pelicans making 24 free throws. F Kevin Durant played almost 32 minutes Thursday, which seems like a lot for such a player in such a meaningless game.

Oklahoma City lost that game outright as five-point favorites.

Utah is 1-3 this preseason, after falling to Portland Wednesday 99-92. The Jazz led that game by a dozen points early in the second half, but got outscored the rest of the way 56-37.

Utah shot just 39 percent in that game, and got out-rebounded 57-43, in losing outright as five-point favorites.

The Jazz parted ways with most of their veterans over the off-season, having chosen to go with a youth movement. Utah missed the playoffs last year while going 43-39; they won't go .500 this year.

OKC, meanwhile, is a contender in the Western Conference, and doesn't necessarily have to do a whole lot this exhibition season, other than get their dogs in shape.

Also, the Thunder is playing without G Russell Westbrook, who's dealing with the aftermath of knee surgery.

But the Thunder took three of four games from the Jazz last season, and covered the spread as chalk all three times. And while that might not mean anything as far as handicapping a preseason game goes, it leads us to believe OKC's talent should win out Sunday so consider them for your Sunday sports picks.
