Sunday’s NBA betting has its share of Western Conference affairs. Will the big ‘chalk’ hold serve in these matchups or is there value backing the road dogs?

Several games are pitting playoff-bound contenders against foes playing out their seasons’ string. The Portland Trail Blazers play their first road game in two weeks against the Denver Nuggets, while the Houston Rockets host the Sacramento Kings.

Portland Trail Blazers at Denver Nuggets

Denver saw a five-game winning streak end in Friday’s 108-105 overtime loss as a three-point road favorite to the Dallas Mavericks. Nuggets mates Andre Iguodala and Wilson Chandler knocked down a combined 15-of-30 field shots, finishing with 18 points each.

Portland logged its 10th straight loss on the same night of action, dropping a 106-90 affair to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Blazers allowed 51.9 percent field shooting, failing to collect as a 9 ½-point home dog.

5Dimes opened their NBA odds with Denver as a 14-point home favorite for Sunday’s matchup, while first setting the ‘total’ at 208 ½. Nuggets guard Ty Lawson (16.6 PPG) is “probable” to play despite his recent heel injury, while Portland’s Nicolas Batum (!4.4 PPG) has missed five straight games with a shoulder injury.

I am taking the points with Portland here, sensing Terry Stotts’ squad can find the back door to a cashed ticket here. The Blazers are 2-0-1 ATS in their three prior duels with Denver, with the trio of contests all decided by eight points or less.

Denver finds itself playing the front end of a back-to-back spot, with a trip to Milwaukee as part of Monday’s league slate. The Nuggets have let up at times against weaker teams, logging 0-5 spread record in their last five matchups against foes with losing records.

NBA Pick: Portland Trail Blazers +14 at for this NBA pick.

Sacramento Kings at Houston Rockets

Houston picked up a second loss in its last three games with Friday’s 82-78 setback to the Memphis Grizzlies, upset as a 6 ½-point home favorite. The Rockets were held to 31.1 percent field shooting, while mates Omer Asik and Terrence Jones united for 23 boards.

Sacramento was also defeated that night, logging a 108-101 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Kings center DeMarcus Cousins finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds, with his club holding on to cash as an 11 ½-point road dog.

Sunday’s battle saw Houston open as 10 ½-point home ‘chalk’ on’s betting board, while the ‘total’ was first listed at 215 ½. Houston’s Chandler Parsons (15.3 PPG) is “questionable” due to a calf injury, missing his squad’s last four games.

I am adding a ticket on Sacramento here to my sports picks, taking the double digits. The Kings have not quit yet, cashing with a 7-2 spread record in their last nine road games.

Houston could take find itself taking an encounter like this too lightly, while coming into the matchup with a 0-3 ATS slide. The Rockets have had their share of being overvalued at home, logging a 1-6 spread mark in their last seven dates at Toyota Center against foes with losing road records.

Look for the Kings to put up their share of points, while Houston goes through the motions here with Monday’s matchup in Phoenix looming on no rest.

NBA Pick: Sacramento Kings +10 ½ at
