Game 3 Will Go Over Because…
Game 2 was on pace to do exactly that until things came to a grinding halt in the fourth quarter. The Heat and Spurs went over in Game 1 rather easily and were on pace to do the same in Game 2. They had 155 points through three quarters, which means they were averaging 51.6 per quarter so far in the game. Then the fourth quarter was played at a stand-still and they only totaled 38 points. Even with that, the under barely cashed, making the margin by 4.5 points. Had there been any late free throws, the game would have surpassed the number.
The Spurs only hit 12-of-20 free throws and shot 43.9% from the field. Look for them to improve on both of those numbers and push this game over.
Game 3 Will Go
The defenses are starting to dictate the pace. Although Game 2 had one quarter where the teams combined for 69 points, they averaged just 34.7 points per quarter in each of the other three. It looks like the defenses are starting to sink their teeth in.
The Heat have managed to derail the Spurs offense by cutting off the threes and shadowing Tony Parker with LeBron James. As for the Spurs, they’re not giving up many turnovers and are therefore, shutting off the Heat’s fast break points. We should see another game in the mid-90’s in Game 3, so take the under with your NBA picks.
Outlook & Pick
Both teams are doing their best to shut off the other team’s strength right now. However, with the Heat being back at home, I expect them to be able to run more thanks to a few more turnovers. They have averaged 6.0 points per game more at home, so look for this game to get over the number.
