Two of the Western Conference's finest will meet up on the hardwood this evening, with the Trail Blazers listed as the NBA betting favorites over Chris Paul and the Clippers.

Odds Overview
An opening spread of 3.5 has shifted slightly, as now most books have 4 available for the taking. That's got to be music to the ears of potential Los Angeles backers in this spot.

We see a rather high total of 206 also on the NBA odds board, which is no surprise given how talented both of these Western Conference squads are offensively. Both teams rank in the top six in points scored per game.

Portland Trail Blazers
The Trail Blazers are flying high right now and aren't showing any signs of slowing down. They've won four in a row and are 8-1 over their last nine games overall, which has them at an excellent 30-8 on the season. The competition levels haven't been all that high during this recent stretch of good form, but Portland is still winning the games they should, and that's all that matters in the end.

We last saw the Trail Blazers take the court in Sunday's 106-94 road win over the Lakers, a game that was actually pretty close there for a while before the road team pulled away in the fourth. Portland shot 47.7 percent overall and 41.9 percent from beyond the arc, with Damian Lillard putting on a show - he finished with a game-high 34 points and added seven assists and three rebounds in the victory. Nicolas Batum had a 11/9/6 line, while LaMarcus Aldridge had 15 points, nine boards and three dimes.

Playing as well as they have all season, even without starting center Robin Lopez, Portland will welcome the Clippers, who have been relatively hit or miss throughout the year. Needless to say, the Trail Blazers will be liking their chances of stamping out a fifth straight win.

Los Angeles Clippers
It seems like the Clippers just cannot seem to put together consistently good performances. They'll win a couple games in a row but then fall on their faces, like they did at home versus Miami on Sunday. It was an embarassing loss to the Heat, so you know LA will want to come out and make amends in a tough road spot against a familar foe in Portland.

Against Miami, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin both did their parts. CP3 had 23 points, nine assists and three boards, while Griffin recorded 26 points, six boards and three dimes in 39 minutes of action. However, J.J. Redick was the only other guy to hit double figures for the Clippers, and that just wasn't enough to get past Chris Bosh (34 points), Dwyane Wade and company.

Now the Clippers head back out on the road, where they've been pretty shaky in all honesty. Whereas they've gone 17-6 at home, they're just 8-7 on the road, which certainly doesn't bode well for this trip to Portland.

NBA Pick
We don't have a good feeling either way when it comes to picking a side, though if we had to choose, we'd lean on the Trail Blazers at home.

However, we're heading towards a total play instead and liking the look of the OVER. Both teams have been excellent offensively, as evident by each ranking in the top eight in efficiency on that end of the floor. We've got two of the best point guard/power forward duos on the court here, with Paul and Griffin going head-to-head with Lillard and Aldridge. Points should be coming easily.

With that said, let's skip a spread and roll your NBA picks with the OVER to cash for NBA betting handicappers this evening. Enjoy what's sure to be a highly competitive game!
