Welcome to the Saturday edition of picks of the day! We are on a slight hot streak coming out of the All Star Break, so let’s see if we can cash a few winners this weekend in the NBA.

Rockets vs. Wizards

Both of these teams played last night and both got good wins. The Wizards dispatched a good Nuggets team that was visiting, while the Rockets got a needed road win in Brooklyn last night.

Today, the Rockets come into this game as slight -1 ½ favorites, with a larger total of 208 ½. Both of these teams were clicking on offense last night, as the Wizards dropped 119, while the Rockets 106. I’m tempted to side with the Rockets in this one, but instead, I’m siding with the safer total, which is a bit low for these two teams.

The Wizards, as they showed last night, can score at home. However, after a stellar 3rd quarter defensively, which sealed the game for them, they continued to give up 35 4th quarter points, which almost allowed Denver to come back from being down 16 points.

I think that Washington squad will show up against the fast paced Rockets tonight. As we saw from last night, the Wizards easily conform to the other team’s game plan, and if you think there was plenty of scoring last night, just wait until tonight. Both teams will be tired from their games last night, and defense will barely make it into the building.

These two teams played one another earlier in Houston, but the Wizards were still without John Wall and others during that game. In fact, the last time these two played in Washington, the total flew over 200 points. I’m seeing a similar game today, as both teas are tired, and both have the firepower to score on one another, James Harden will be virtually unstoppable tonight, so take the over.

NBA Picks: OVER 208 ½

Hawks vs. Bucks

After their big win against the Kings last night in Atlanta, the Hawks had to take an abnormally long flight afterwards up to Milwaukee to face the Bucks. Milwaukee comes into this game favored by -4 in the NBA Odds, with a total of 204.

Atlanta of course didn’t trade Josh Smith, but since the turn of the New Year, some tired legs have apparently sat in with this team. Atlanta is only 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five games on the second night of a back to back. That’s why there is no other pick tonight on this game other than Bucks -4.

Milwaukee just acquired JJ Redick, and it looks as if he will come off the bench and make his debut this evening. This will only help a Bucks team that is full of firepower on offense, and even though they will be mismatched down low, the Bucks carry a big advantage of being more rested and being at home.

Even though the trends ATS are slightly in favor of the Hawks overall in this matchup, the Bucks have won 18 of their last 25 games against the Hawks while playing in Milwaukee, and I can say this is probably the best team Milwaukee has had in those 25 games with the exception of some of the teams in the mid 2000s.

Milwaukee is 0-5 ATS in their last five home games, but the Hawks being tired I think will help the Bucks in this one finally get a home win and cover, something that hasn’t come along too much for Milwaukee this season.

NBA Picks: Take the Bucks -4 for this NBA pick.
