Time for another day in the NBA and while some teams in the NBA are off to fast starts, elite teams like the Heat and Clippers already have at least a couple of losses attached to their resume.
Indiana Pacers (6-0) at Brooklyn Nets (2-3)
Ready For the NBA Championships?
Apparently the Brooklyn Nets will need some time to gel as they’re off to a rather slow start. When you have so many stars on a team like this, it’s difficult for new players to find their roles without stepping on other players toes and that’s the case for Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. Thus far the combination of Garnett and Pierce have averaged a collective 19.4 points per game. The bottom line is the Nets are still Brook Lopez’s team.
Brooklyn is also coming off of a 112-108 overtime loss on Friday to the Washington Wizards and in this game Garnett and Pierce were the Achilles heel of the team, shooting a woeful 3 for 16 and just 8 points. The Nets were a -18 on the plus/minus side when “The Big Ticket” was on the court. Head coach, Jason Kidd needs to address this issue to enable Garnett and Pierce to play up to their maximum potential to help this team.
Best Team In the NBA?
On the other end of the spectrum, you have possibly the best team in the NBA in the Indiana Pacers with the best starting five players to go with it. This is a young team with major talent on both sides of the ball led by superstar Paul George. On the season, George is averaging a very productive 25.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. George is a the leader of a team with very little flaws. The Pacers rank 1st in the NBA in defense, allowing just 84.3 points per game. They’ve made quick work of top level teams like the Chicago Bulls and will be a tough matchup for a Brooklyn team that hasn’t established an identity.
The NBA odds are tight here as the Nets are a mere 1.5 point favorite. That said, the Pacers have given us no reason to fade them. Take the Pacers as they look for their 7th consecutive victory.

Boston Celtics (2-4) at Miami Heat (4-2)
Blowout in South Beach?
Although the Miami Heat haven’t gotten off to the perfect start, they’ve won 4 out of their last 5 games and have a very inferior team in the Boston Celtics coming into their arena. Quite frankly, I’m surprised that the Celts have been able to even win 2 out of 6 games, but they’ve managed to exceed my expectations. Make no mistake about it; they’re headed for trouble when they face Lebron James tonight.
Same Old Heat
No matter how you slice it, the Miami Heat are a team with 3 above average players and the rest of the team are role players. Of course Mario Chalmers, Ray Allen, and Shane Battier can have a great night, but they can’t stay consistent enough to sustain the excellence.
Dwayne Wade has proven that he’s still got something left in the tank as he’s averaging 20.6 point, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game while Chris Bosh is one of the better centers in the league. The “x-factor” is Lebron James and when James decided to look for his own shot more, the team played better. James needs to think shoot first, pass second, as he’s the best player on the planet.
While Jeff Green hasn’t had the 20 point per game season as expected, players such as Vitor Faverani have gradually faded away as the NBA is a grind. The Celtics are absolutely no match for the Heat tonight and Miami should crush them for our NBA picks.

Good luck, everyone!
