Rockets travel to Portland to face the Trailblazers. After Portland defeated Houston on this court, HC Bickerstaff referred to his team as “broken.” See my NBA pick for this game.

Houston Rockets vs. Portland Trailblazers (-4) 10:30 ET TNT
These teams continue to play with opposing mindsets, making tonight’s game a pure momentum play on the Portland Trailblazers, as they show America what all the fuss is about.

On the surface, it appears that Houston and Portland are battling with Dallas and Utah for the last 3 playoff spots in the Western Conference. Currently, Portland, at 30-27 SU, leads Houston (28-29 SU) by 2 games. But, the attitude of each team and the current form of Portland tell a far different story. Led by PG Harden and center, Dwight Howard, Houston has an accumulation of talent that is among the best in the league.

Getting this team on the same page, playing with both offensive and defensive cohesion, is a whole different story. After a “so what” (116-100) win at Phoenix last Friday, Harden dropped 42 points on Tuesday at Utah, but it wasn’t enough as Houston lost (117-114) in OT. As a result, the Rockets are now allowing 113 PPG on 46% shooting during a 3-7 streak in the last 10 games. The point is this team may not care about the double revenge motive, choosing to focus on individual goals instead of team unity. That would clearly be a mistake against a surging Portland Trailblazers team.

Betting Analysis
Portland enters tonight on runs of 15-3 SU, 13-5 ATS since January 9th.  That includes a 6-game winning streak leading into this contest. In this regard, however, it must be noted that the Blazers have had an ideal schedule, playing 13 of their most recent 15 games at home and only once (back in mid-January) playing consecutive games. That can do wonders for a team’s rhythm and psyche. That is not to take anything away from the outstanding job done by Portland HC Stotts or the outstanding backcourt play of the still underrated duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.

Most recently, this guard tandem combined for 61 points in Sunday’s (115-111) home win over Utah, then followed it up by scoring 34 apiece in Tuesday’s (112-104) home win over Brooklyn. No 2 players on the same team have dropped 30 apiece in 3 straight games in over 6 years. Do not expect any letdown from Lillard, after he was snubbed by his exclusion from the All Star game. The Blazers have averaged 118 PPG on 49% shooting in their last 5 games.

I invite you to use the NBA odds boards in your favor and join me in my NBA Pick on the Portland Trailblazers tonight.
