The Chicago Bulls aren’t in great physical shape right now as Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose have missed games this week. On Friday, they’re playing a game they can win in their sleep, which is why they’re such a big NBA betting favorite even though they are on the road.

Why The Chicago Bulls Will Win…
Their opponent is awful. The Philadelphia 76ers lost at home to the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night, something that most teams in the NBA won’t do this season. Orlando is a bad team, but it was a bucket better than the Sixers, who have been so thoroughly gutted as an organization that anyone playing on the team has been consigned to a form of basketball purgatory. The Sixers don’t defend very well. They’re 21st in the league in points allowed, with 101 on the dot. The Sixers are a bad rebounding team. They’re 28th in the league with 38 rebounds allowed per game. Philadelphia is also a bad offensive team. The Sixers are averaging only 90 points per game, also 28th in the NBA. There’s just nothing this team does particularly well, and that’s the definition of a really bad team, one that’s certain to have one of the three worst records in the NBA by the time the regular season is over. Chicago is not a complete team in terms of having all its best guys ready to play at their absolute best. The Bulls have some injury issues which are limiting their effectiveness. However, Chicago should be able to do what it takes to beat the 76ers. If they can’t beat Philadelphia when somewhat shorthanded and beaten up, they have a problem. Anyone who loses to the Sixers this season has a problem.

Why The Philadelphia 76ers Will Win…
They're playing a team that doesn’t quite know who it will put on the floor, or at least, which players it will put on the floor in certain combinations and for various lengths of time. The Bulls might very well be able to play all three of their somewhat banged-up players, Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler, and Taj Gibson, in this game against Philadelphia, but how effective will all three players be? Chicago head coach Tom Thibodeau is notorious for overplaying his frontline players during the regular season, saddling them with 40-minute worknights instead of pacing them and keeping them fresh for the playoffs. Thibodeau has to be cautious in handling his players, but if he is of the belief that if a player says he’s ready to play, then he can play 40 minutes, well, the Bulls might be in trouble. Rose probably doesn’t have 40 high-quality minutes in his body right now, and the same can be said for Butler and Gibson. The Bulls are going to have to find quality minutes from other players, and they might not be ready to do that. Chicago struggled with a young and unseasoned Milwaukee team on Wednesday before finally pulling away late. This game could be close enough for the Sixers to cover, assuming a line gets posted and the Sixers are underdogs by more than four or five points on NBA odds.

The Bulls are not a complete team right now, but the Sixers are not going to win even as many as 20 games this season. They remain atrocious. As long as Rose is healthy and playing for this game, take the Bulls with your NBA picks. They should cover.
