The Miami Heat are missing their top two point guards. That's not going to make them an attractive NBA pick on Wednesday night versus the Washington Wizards.

Jason's 2015-16 record as of Jan. 18: 14-15-1 ATS, 5-1-1 Total

You're only as good as your material. Right now, the Miami Heat aren't very good. They've been blown out in back-to-back games since losing both starting point guard Goran Dragic (calf) and his understudy, Beno Udrih (neck). Both players are aiming to return this Friday – which means the Heat will be up against the wall Wednesday night when they visit the Washington Wizards. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m. Eastern.

Don't write off Miami just yet. The Wizards have also dropped a pair of games SU and ATS going into this contest, including a tough 119-117 loss to the Boston Celtics (–1.5 away) last week. Cash money, baby. Washington is missing a number of players, too, and as we go to press, the Wiz are 3-point favorites on our NBA odds board with a total of 199.

Point Blank
Life wouldn't be so bad for Miami if Dragic (13.7 PER, –0.3 BPM) were the only one injured. Tyler Johnson (16.1 PER, +1.5 BPM) has enjoyed a breakout season in his second year in the bigs, and has outplayed Dragic thus far. But things get complicated once you take Udrih (9.6 PER, –4.6 BPM) out of the equation. Even though Udrih has been struggling, his absence means more minutes for rookie Josh Richardson (2.8 PER, –5.4 BPM). The horror. The horror.

Without Dragic and Udrih, the Heat were extinguished 99-74 by the Oklahoma City Thunder (–9.5 at home) on Sunday, then they got hammered 91-79 by the Milwaukee Bucks (+4.5 away) on Tuesday. Losing to the Thunder on the road is one thing. Letting Milwaukee beat you at home is quite another – the Bucks are one of the worst teams in the NBA this year.

Otto Adjust
But at least they're healthy. That's still not the case for the Wizards, even though they've got center Goran Dragic (17.5 PER, –0.1 BPM) back in action. There are four other Wizards who have been confirmed out for Wednesday:

SF Otto Porter (14.8 PER, +1.6 BPM)
PF Kris Humphries (12.3 PER, –3.8 BPM)
PF Drew Gooden (8.8 PER, –4.2 BPM)
SG Alan Anderson (10.6 PER, –0.5 BPM last year)

Porter is the main concern on this list. Once upon a time, Humphries and Gooden were useful bench players for Washington, but both have fallen out of the rotation, while Anderson has yet to make his Wiz debut after playing for the Brooklyn Nets last year. Porter is a solid 3-and-D wing out of Georgetown, a third-year pro who has earned his spot in the starting lineup. His replacement, rookie Kelly Oubre Jr. (9.2 PER, –4.6 PER), isn't quite ready for prime time. However, it's a minor issue compared to what the Heat have to deal with right now. Put the rested Wiz in our NBA picks, and may the sphere be with you.
