The Spurs are sitting on a long home winning streak and have been made a strong home favorite in this contest. With Heat coming off a back to back will they be a valuable NBA pick? See inside.

NBA odds makers have come out making San Antonio a solid -11.5 favorite like at Pinnacle Sports -110. For one of my NBA picks today I will back the Spurs to hammer on Miami and win this game going away. They catch the Heat in a tough spot and should win this game by well into double digits.

Miami Heat
The Heat average only 99.3 points per game but defensively rank 2nd in opponents assists per game and fifth in opponent three pointers made per game. Sitting at the top of the Southeast division the Heat have been playing very well over the past month so this line seems a little out of sorts. On a closer look at their schedule though they have been getting it done against the lesser teams in the league and except for their big win at home against Cleveland they haven’t won against the better teams in the NBA.

In the last few while they have beaten the Sixers twice, the Nuggets, Suns, Knicks, and the struggling at that time Bulls, they have lost to the Warriors, Celtics, Bucks, Raptors, and Hornets. The Heat are a decent shooting team ranking fourth in the league in overall shooting percentage but their pace is usually very controlled averaging just 81.1 field goal attempts per game which ranks 27th in the league. Defensively they are good but on the road tonight in San Antonio I simply don’t believe they will get enough stops defensively and be efficient enough offensively to keep this game relatively close.

San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs rank 8th in the NBA averaging 104.3 points per game and rank first defensively in all major categories. They really are number one across the board on defense in almost a ridiculous manner ranking first in opponent effective field goal percentage, efficiency, points per game, overall and three point shooting percentage. There are actually more statistics to show their dominance but for brevity’s sake we will stop right there about their defense, simply put this is arguably the best defense of all time.

On the other side of the ball they are very efficient ranking at worst third in the league in most offensive categories. What they don’t do though is push tempo putting up just 83.4 attempts per game which ranks 21st in the league. However, they make a lot of those shots averaging 40.6 field goals made per game which ranks third in the NBA. There are too many superlatives to use with this team and with catching the Heat off a back to back they should handle things in their businesslike manner winning this game by over 15 points.
