The New York Knicks are just 11-22 on the season and have been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster this season. However, compared to their Tuesday opponent, the Detroit Pistons, the Knicks might actually be considered on a hot streak heading into this game.

The Detroit Pistons can win because…

The Knicks are an embarrassment at home. They are a pathetic 4-12 at Madison Square Garden and playing in front of the home audience is definitely not an advantage these days. The fans are disgusted with what they’ve seen from their team and take every possible opportunity to boo them. The Knicks last four outings at home include a 12-point loss to Toronto, a 29-point loss to Oklahoma City, an eight-point loss to Memphis and a one-point loss to Washington. If those teams can win in “The Mecca”, so can the Pistons. Add them to your sports picks.

The New York Knicks can win because…

The Pistons have been a gong show recently. They’ve lost seven of eight and can’t seem to do anything right at either end of the court. On offense, they’re averaging just 96.4 points per game while on defense, they’re allowing an average of 107.8 points per game. That’s a problem.

The Knicks have won two of three, including impressive wins in San Antonio and Dallas. Their lone loss in that span was a narrow two-point defeat in Houston. This team is getting healthy and is starting to play better right now. That’s why they’re the choice here.

Outlook & Pick

Boy, is this a dandy on the NBA odds or what? You can bet the Knicks, who are a three-point home favorite but are just 3-13 ATS at home this season. Or you can bet the Pistons, who have lost seven of their last eight overall.

Sadly, I’ll add the Knicks to my NBA picks solely based on the fact that they’ve played better of late and need this game to track down the Pistons for the eighth and final playoff spot in the East.
