We have a busy evening tonight, and while you are busy watching some better games, why not take advantage of some of the value elsewhere on the card?

The Hornets are -3 ½ home NBA betting odds favorites in this one with a total of 192 ½. While I do agree than the game will be close, I’m straying away from the spread and focusing my pick tonight on the total. 192 ½ is a pretty good number, but the lack of trends between these two teams, along with the obvious discrepancies in the spreads right now at different books, we could be seeing a disputed line on our hands, the kinds with the most value to the bettor.

These two have played once already this season, and the Hornets destroyed Detroit in Detroit. New Orleans dropped 105 points on the Pistons, and only gave up 86. However, over their last five games overall, the Hornets have given up almost 105 points per game. Three of those five games were at home. NOLA started off the season ok on defense, but the long season is taking away the legs of the young players that aren’t yet used to playing a full 82 game schedule, even if this isn’t their first year in the NBA.

On top of the Hornets defensive issues, the will almost certainly be without Anthony Davis tonight after he hurt his shoulder a few nights ago. Without him to help block shots with Robin Lopez, the Hornets’ defense is giving up almost 100 points per game in the 14 games they have missed Davis this season.

Even though the Pistons have been known this season for putting up dismal road efforts, they are playing a deep rotation right now, and it has been a bit easier for them to score lately on the road and overall. In their last four road games, the Pistons are averaging 97 points per game, and if you take out their bad loss to Indiana, that number shoots up to 102 points per game. The young guns are getting let loose tonight, and I’m on the over for this NBA Pick.
