In order to give us a bit more profitability tonight, let’s parlay these two picks together and grab an extra payout if both are successful.
After playing a hard-fought game in Boston last night, the Clippers head just south to Brooklyn to face off against the Nets tonight. The NBA Odds have LA as a -2 road favorite, and while neither team has been playing up to expectations to an extent, I still like the road favorites here.
The Brooklyn Nets are getting healthier, and that will make this game interesting. However the Clippers matchup well against the Nets. In only his second game back from injury, Deron Williams is going to have a tough time guarding, and likely scoring against Chris Paul. Deandre Jordon has become a plus post defender this season, and his athleticism will hold Brook Lopez down tonight, despite being on the back to back. The Clippers are 4-1 ATS this season on the 2nd night of a back to back, and since 2012 they are 15-11 ATS playing with no rest.
Brooklyn is only 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games, and 4-8 ATS in their last 12 games overall. By the end of the season, the Clippers will eventually be a top 10 defense like they were a year ago, (in the video I said they were 9th in points allowed this year, however they are actually 12th) and I fully expect them to show up like one tonight in this big game. They haven’t been great on offense on the road, but I expect them to weather whatever storm the Nets bring, and cover this matchup. I actually think the public is on the correct side with their NBA picks tonight.
I have even better feelings about the late game, where the Blazers are -3 ½ NBA ddds favorites tonight against the visiting Rockets. The Blazers may be one of the top 3-5 teams in the Western Conference; however they are far from the best. They have made waves this season starting out with an 18-4 SU and 16-6 ATS tip. However out of their 18 SU wins, only 7 of them have come against teams with winning records.
Even though they have staple wins this season over Oklahoma City, Indiana and San Antonio, all of them were at the Rose Garden, one of the toughest places to play in the NBA. You would be correct if you’re thinking tonight’s game is also at the Garden, (I know it’s called the Moda Center or something, but the Rose Garden is so much better) however the Rockets have already beaten the Blazers in Portland this season, and I think they could do it tonight as well.
Jeremy Lin will be making his return tonight for the Rockets, and although I doubt his role is anything but complementary, it is still a boost to the Rockets. In that fist matchup in early November, Dwight Howard dominated the Blazers. He was 10-13 from the floor with 29 points and 13 rebounds. James Harden put up 33 points, and the Rockets cruised, 116-101. Howard will lock down LaMarcus Aldridge, and he will punish whoever is guarding him tonight. If Robin Lopez gets in foul trouble again, the Blazers are in trouble.
The Rockets are the #1 rebounding team in the NBA, and they allow only 40 rebounds per game on average, which ranks them 3rd best in the league. Houston has won and covered their last three games with the Blazers, and I see a 4th tonight.
My Pick: 2-team parlay Clippers -2 & Rockets +3 ½
