It was an unfortunate night of NBA action last night for our NBA Picks, however there is another large slate of NBA Odds here on hump day to give us some extra value.

Sixers vs. Hawks
Did you know that over the last twenty games, the Sixers and Knicks have the same records? So you’re telling me there’s a chance? Well, tonight not so much. The NBA Odds have the Hawks as -13 ½ favorites, with a total of 202 points. The Hawks won our NBA Pick on them two nights ago in somewhat easy fashion, but their spread this week is a lot higher than the +1 ½ we cashed on them on Monday. However the total of 202 looks interesting, and with the lack of defense on both sides, the over could be a good value play.

The Hawks are relatively small in the frontcourt, and it limits their rim protection and post defense. The Hawks won’t need to use a lot of their post defense tonight against Philadelphia, but those young Sixers guards slashing to the rim will hurt them. The Hawks aren’t bad on defense, but they should give up around 100 points tonight.

The Sixers on the other hand are giving up 104 points per game, and with the Hawks as one of the most efficient offensive teams in the NBA, the Sixers are going to give up a won of points tonight in Atlanta. The Hawks rank 6th in the NBA in Offensive Efficiency, and if they don’t get more than 105 tonight I will be surprised. The over is 9-3 for the Hawks in their last 12 games against a team with a losing record.

Free NBA Pick: OVER 202

Celtics vs. Hornets
In my notes that I write out for these articles, I wrote down “Bobcats,” without even thinking about it, and right now the Hornets are playing like the team that played under that trademark. Charlotte is 5-15 SU, and looking like they may be destined for the lottery if things don’t turn around quickly. They have a chance to do that tonight at home, as they welcome in the Celtics. The NBA Odds have the Hornets as -2 ½ favorites, with a total of 204, but can you really trust them as favorites?

Charlotte is only 1-6 ATS in their last seven home games, and even though they got the win two nights ago off of Kemba Walker’s game-winning layup, they are still only 1-4 ATS this season coming off of a win. The Celtics on the other hand pushed the Wizards t double overtime two nights ago, and even though they lost they game, they covered ATS. That ATS win made it five covers in a row for the Celtics, and I think they make it six tonight. Even though they are vulnerable down low to Al Jefferson, the Hornets’ defense is causing them problems, and Rajon Rondo should have no problem getting his teammates open shots against Charlotte. The Celtics have also covered five of their last six road games this season, so take the points with Boston tonight.
