We have a nice card here on Sunday afternoon and evening, and for my loan Sunday pick I’ve chosen to share the value I’m seeing between the Knicks hosting the Pacers this evening.

NBA Picks: Pacers vs. Knicks

The NBA Odds for this one opened up at favoring the Knicks are -3 ½, with a total of 193 ½. With the playoff seeds in the East all but set, whom should we trust to get the cover and/or the outright win in this almost meaningless game?

Ready for departure

While the West will likely go down to the very last day on Wednesday, the East is basically set. The Knicks are three games up on the Pacers right now for the 2nd seed in the East, and if the Knicks win this game, they will lock that seed up.

With only three games left, the Knicks would have to lose all three of their remaining games, while the Pacers would have to win all three of theirs remaining in order to get up to #2. With the rumors of Pacers starting to sit out, I think they have accepted they won’t be moving up

They still could move down one spot, and that is why I still think they will play this game to win. The Pacers are only two games up on the Nets and even though I doubt they will play this game all out, I do expect them to put forth their normal rotation of guys.

There were some rumors that George Hill and some others might sit out this game because of how close the Pacers are to locking up their seed. If that is the case, and anyone from either side is sitting out for this game, make sure you check back in a few hours before tip off and make sure everyone is playing.

As of now, Hill still has the DTD tag, while Tyson Chandler is questionable for this game. I’m going to assume that both are out for today, but we should know more in the next few hours.

The Sharp Pick

Since there is a lot of uncertainty with who will be playing and who will be sitting in this game, a play on the spread seems off limits to me. As I have been saying for a little over a week now, this time of the year can have value, but it’s hard to see the value until closer to game time because of the uncertainty. While I don’t see much value on the spread, I do have my eyes on the total, which sits at 193 ½ and is rising. The last time these two played the Pacers put a beating on the Knicks at home 125-91. At this point of the season, teams are playing a lot more loosely, and I doubt both of these team’s defenses make much of a showing here tonight.

As you can note from the recent games for these squads separately, totals have been going over. Five out of Indiana’s last six games overall have gone over, while six of New York’s last eight home games have also gone over the total. With tonight not meaning a whole lot, I’m siding with the Over for my free pick in this one.

My Pick: OVER 193 ½ at Pinnacle
