Toronto has fought back well and are now up on the Indiana Pacers 2-1 in their series. Tonight they take on Indiana again in Indiana and NBA odds makers have made them a small favorite.

NBA odds makers have made Toronto a -1.5 favorite like at Bookmaker -110. Despite their strong performance I'm going to back the Indiana Pacers +1.5 for one of my NBA picks and anticipate them to win this game tonight. Indiana did not shoot the ball particularly well the other night and I expect for them to be more efficient in this contest.

Indiana Pacers
In game three Indiana shot just 38.2% from the floor and 27.3% from distance and had 16 turnovers on the night. The Pacers got off to a really bad start and were down big after the first half and simply could not climb back into it. The biggest issue for them was that they only got up 68 shots compared to Toronto with 94 attempts and that simply cannot happen if they expect to compete with a very good Raptors team.

Part of the issue and a good thing for Indiana was that they got to the free-throw line a lot going 27-33 compared to Toronto at just 13-16. Still, they shot well below their percentages especially at home for the season and will need to make some adjustments in order to get back to pushing some pace and getting up more shots.

On the season Indiana averages 85 attempts per game so I look for head coach Frank Vogel to make the right changes in order to get his team getting into the rhythm that they want. Defensively they did a decent enough job but they simply allowed Toronto to dictate the momentum of the game.

Toronto Raptors
In game three Toronto shot 41.5% from the field and 31.3% from distance putting up 94 shots which is well above their season average. I was really impressed how Toronto came out and executed their game plan to stifle Indiana in what was obviously a crucial game three. On the season the Raptors were one of the slowest pace teams in attempts this season averaging just 81.3 per game which ranked second to last in the NBA.

The fact that they got up so many shots was a bit mind-boggling to me since it goes against what they have been about all year and controlling tempo in getting stops. Not only was it an interesting point of contention but also that they forced 16 turnovers which resulted in 26 points. I'm sure that is an issue that Indiana will look carefully over and try to be better about by protecting the basketball tonight. Expect a much different Indiana team that will come out and play well on both ends of the floor.
