Can the Brooklyn Nets get the cover again here or will it be the Washington Wizards cashing another ticket? Find out which team we have decided to back with our NBA picks tonight.

The Brooklyn Nets split the first two games of their present road trip, with Monday’s loss to the San Antonio Spurs followed by Wednesday’s upset win in Oklahoma City. Friday’s NBA matchup report has P.J. Carlesimo’s club finishing its swing away from home against the Washington Wizards, who have a 3-1 spread record in their last four duels.

Nets, Johnson outgun Thunder

Brooklyn shot 50 percent from the field in Wednesday’s 110-93 triumph as a 9 ½-point road dog against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Nets led by as many as 23 points, outscoring Oklahoma City in the paint, 42-36.

Nets guard Joe Johnson piled in a season-high 33 points, knocking down 11-of-19 shots from the floor. Brooklyn’s Deron Williams logged his first double-double in six games, finishing with 19 points and 13 assists.

The contest’s combined 203 points surged above the ‘total’ of 196 ½, moving the OVER to 3-2 in the Nets’ last five games. Brooklyn’s Kris Humphries and Andray Blatche united for 21 points and 12 boards off the bench, while adding one block each.

Wizards continue slide in Indiana

Washington picked up its third straight loss in Wesneday’s 89-81 defeat to the Indiana Pacers, while holding on to cash as an 11-point road dog. The Wizards held Indiana to 37.7 percent field shooting, while being outrebounded, 48-41.

Wizards guard Jordan Crawford hit 7-of-15 field buckets en route to a team-high 20 points, while adding seven of his squad’s 24 assists. Washington’s Emeka Okafor and Kevin Seraphin logged nine rebounds each, with Seraphin notching 16 points off the bench.

The battle’s 170 points dipped below the ‘total’ of 181 ½, making the UNDER 5-2-1 in the Wizards’ last eight matchups. Washington trailed by as many as 17 points, while both sides combined for 35 turnovers.

Back the Wizards as home dogs

The NBA odds makers at opened Brooklyn as a 5 ½-point road favorite, with early betting ‘steam’ on the Nets lifting the number a ‘hook’ to six. The ‘total’ was first set at 185, remaining unchanged after initial wagers.

I am adding the Wizards to my NBA picks for Friday’s card, looking for Brooklyn to have a letdown after pulling off a shocker in OKC. Washington is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings it has hosted against the Nets, while holding its last three Eastern Conference foes at home to 93.3 PPG.

Crawford and Okafor have quietly been surging in scoring and boards for the Wizards, notching 19 PPG and 12.2 RPG, respectively, over the team’s last six contests. Crawford torched the Nets for 23 points in last March’s 108-89 victory for Washington, with mate Nene piling in a double-double for 22 points and 10 boards.

Brooklyn has had its share of momentum under Carlesimo, but has been an overvalued club most of the season. The Nets have gone 1-5 ATS in their last six spots that followed a victory, while logging a 2-5 spread record in their last seven road games.

Look for Brooklyn to be edged out here at the windows again, with Washington adding another cashed ticket to its 6-1-1 ATS record in its last eight games against clubs that have winning records.
