The Nets look to tie up the series and steal a home game from the Bulls here this afternoon, as they face off in a Game 4 showdown.

NBA Playoff Betting

The NBA Odds for this afternoon contest favor Chicago by -3, with a total of 178 points. Where should we go with our NBA Picks for this game?

I do think after the very low scoring Game 3 that the books might not be giving these defenses enough credit. I was dead wrong about the over in Game 3, but now Game 4 gives me a chance to correct my mistakes.

Three of these two’s last four games have gone under the total, and I think this one will as well. This is an afternoon game, and they didn’t receive as much rest as most other teams playing with a day off in between games. All of this considered, I think the under is the play.

In their last three trips to Chicago including the one a few days ago, the Nets have only averaged 81 points per game against the Bulls. If Chicago can play defense like they did in Game 3, this total has great value. We all know about Chicago’s struggles on offense at times, and that will only help our play for this afternoon.

To expand a little, including the three playoff games, in their last ten time playing the Bulls, the Nets have only averaged 91 points per game. Take away the ones in Brooklyn or New Jersey, and that number shrinks a lot.

On top of it all, I truly believe that Tom Thibodeau is out-coaching PJ Carlesimo by a ton. It is showing with every rotation and every trip down the floor for Chicago. They have figured out how to simultaneously slow down Deron Williams and keep Brook Lopez off the block. If Joakim Noah can continue to slow down Lopez, this series is over. If the Nets can't get the ball to Lopez on every other trip down the floor, they are toast. Take the under in this one for your NBA picks.

My Pick: UNDER 178 at Bet 365
