NBA Picks of the day 11-08-13
Friday is a big day in the NBA, and the NBA Odds are out across the boards. With all of the games set to take place this evening, there has to be some value poking out.
Cavs vs. Sixers
The Cavs are struggling some to score this season, and they will be tested once again heading into Philadelphia tonight. The Sixers have been much better than some projected, and the NBA Odds tonight have the Cavs as -3 ½ favorites, with a total of 204. After starting the season 3-0 SU, the Sixers were flying high, but they have lost their last two games, and they are underdogs here tonight.
While the spread is a wash in my opinion, I think there is a lot of value in the total of 204. The Sixers’ scoring has been wildly overvalued to start the season thanks to their impressive first three games. However things are starting to come back to earth with Philly, and they have averaged only 96 per game in their last two losses.

The Cavs have been anything but an offensive juggernaut, however under the second term of Mike Brown, the Cavs’ defense has improved ten fold from last season. Even though they are on the road, the young Cavs have been playing above average defense to start the season, and against Philly, Brown should have a great defensive scheme for tonight.
204 points is just too many for these two teams. Four of the last five, and seven of the last ten times these two teams have met the total has gone under. The under has cashed in their last two games as well, and Cleveland has cashed the under in four of their five games this season. This is an early-season deception line, just don’t take the sportsbooks’ trap. Take the under.
My Pick: ‘Under’ 204
Kings vs. Blazers
Our final game is the late contest between the Kings and Blazers, and the NBA Odds have the Blazers as solid -7 ½ favorites, but once again I think the total has a lot more value. At 203, this total is seemingly way too low for these two offensive minded clubs. Neither team plays very much defense, and both teams are bad matchups for the other.
The Blazers won’t be able to stop DeMarcus Cousins as long as he keeps his head about him in this game. LaMarcus Aldridge isn’t big enough to handle Cousins’ 6’11, 275 pounds down in the post, and on the flip side, Damian Lillard and Nicholas Batum should both have great games going up against Greivis Vasquez and John Salmons.
Portland is averaging over 105 points per game so far this season, and giving up just as many points on the defensive end. The Kings have been slightly better on defense, but they are still giving up over 100 points per game on average this season.
I fully expect the Kings to come back from their last two games, and I see well over 203 tonight from these two teams. Don’t look at this game as a clinic on defense, so take the over and add it to your NBA Picks.
My Pick: ‘Over’ 203[gameodds]5/247175/?r-1=19-43-349-192/us[/gameodds]
