It is unfortunate Kobe Bryant is going to finish his final season in the NBA on a bad basketball team, tonight they travel to Detroit to take on the Pistons and I am more than happy to lay the points.

NBA odds
Odds makers have come out making Detroit a solid -9 favorite like at Sports Betting sports book.  That is a pretty big number but for one of my NBA Picks I think we have a blowout happening today.  Detroit should be able to get stops and score enough to win by double digits.

Los Angeles Lakers
Los Angeles comes in averaging 96.8 points per game, shooting 40.8% from the field, and 32% from beyond the arc. Their field goal shooting from the field is the worst in the NBA and they are second to last in field goals made per game at just 34.7 per contest. They have a bad mixture of personnel and they don't really have any depth to help out. They only have three wins on the season so far and although they had a nice win two games ago against Washington, the game prior they lost to the even worse Philadelphia 76ers. Detroit is not a defensive juggernaut but they will get enough stops tonight to most likely blowout the Lakers.

On the defensive side the Lakers are allowing 105.4 points per game, 45.1% shooting from the field, and 34.3% from beyond the arc. Considering how bad they are on offense it is not a surprise that they do play a little bit better on the defensive side, but not much. Most defensive categories for the Lakers rank in the bottom part of the league and the only thing they do respectably is defend beyond the arc where they rank 13th in opponent three point shooting percentage. Still, they are allowing nine three-pointers per game which ranks 21st in the NBA.

Detroit Pistons
Detroit is averaging 98.4 points per game, shooting 41.9% from the field, and 31.7% from beyond the arc. They love to get the ball up as much as possible as a average 87.9 field goal attempts per game which ranks third in the NBA. Andre Drummond has been an absolute monster this year in the paint and he has been the most responsible for the Pistons leading the NBA at 57.8 total rebounds per game. Although their overall statistics offensively are not that great, Stan Van Gundy is doing a good job with this team in the real tough Central division of the Eastern conference. Right now they are on a nice three-game winning streak and Los Angeles will be their fourth home game in a row before they hit the road again.

Defensively Detroit is allowing 97.8 points per game, 45.4% shooting from the field, and 35.9% from beyond the arc. Percentagewise they don't have great numbers overall but they do rank ninth in the NBA in scoring defense. Where they do hang their hat is controlling the flow of the game and they don't allow the other team to get up a lot of shots with only 82.2 opponent field goal attempts per game, which ranks sixth, and 21.3 opponent three point attempts per game, which ranks fourth in the NBA.

No one is going to feel sorry for Kobe or the Los Angeles Lakers this season. For one of your NBA picks I recommend backing the Detroit Pistons minus the points and look for a beat down in the motor city. Things are not to get any easier for Los Angeles tonight and I look for this Detroit team to have a shot at the playoffs later this season.
