It's Martin Luther King Day which not only means a great day in history for our Nation but also carries the tradition of day time NBA games for us bettors. See what we have in store for our NBA Picks of the Day.

Brooklyn – New York Match up and Odds

The 24-16 (8-9, Away) Brooklyn Nets will travel to Madison Square Garden to take on their newly heated rivals, the New York Knicks, who sit at 25-13 on the year but have dominated on their home floor with a near flawless record of 14-5. New York has taken 2 out of 3 this year against the Nets, but despite all of that NBA odds makers have opened them up just a 4 point favorite with the total at 194.

Carmelo Anthony turns up the heat in this rivalry

It is pretty obvious that this rivalry means a lot to Carmelo Anthony, considering he is from Brooklyn, and it has shown on the court with him being the best player on the floor in all three times these two teams have hooked up this year.  Last time out Melo lead his team mates to a commanding 100-86 victory while dropping 31 points. When they met in Brooklyn he once again willed his team to a 100-97 victory, this time with an even more dominating performance, dropping an astounding 45 points. In the lone loss that the Knicks did suffer to the Nets, Carmelo went off for 35 points.

Knicks getting healthy

Defensive specialist, Iman Shumpert returned to the Knicks lineup last game, and that is a huge boost to this team’s bench. Shumpert played only 15 minutes in his return, scoring 8 points, 2 rebounds, an assist, block and a steal. Iman is an absolute ball hawk and will take away the opposing teams best scoring threats, which is scary considering that the Knicks have been rock solid on the defensive end without him, holding teams to just 95 points per game on 45% shooting. Look for those numbers to drop even further with Shumpert back in the lineup.

Lay the Points

New York has proven that they are the kings of this town, and they aren't about to give it up any time soon. They take great pride in calling New York City their own and they certainly aren't going to let the Brooklyn Nets waltz in and think they can just take over.

New York is 8-2 in their last 10 against Brooklyn. Look for that record to go 9-2 after today.

NBA Picks: Knicks -4 is our first NBA pick of the Day.

Los Angeles Clippers at Golden State Warriors

The 32-9 Clippers (13-5, Away) will take on the Warriors, 24-15 (12-6, Home) at 4pm EST time today with the Warriors being a 4 point home dog and the total at 199. See why we love this one to fly OVER the posted total.

Golden States efficient scoring

The Warriors are averaging 100 points per game and are lead by Steph Curry who drops 20 a game. Over their last ten games the Warriors have scored over 100 points or have let their opponents score over 100 six times. Three of those other games they had scored 96, given up, 92, and 95.

The point is, whenever this team takes the floor, points are being put up on the score board at a rapid rate. Does this mean that betting on the total is our best option tonight?

Clippers lighting it up as well

We all know how dynamic the Clippers are on the offensive end. Magic Johnson even went as far as to call them the new “Show Time” Lakers. They have Jamal Crawford coming off the bench averaging 17 points a game but has numerous 20-30 point games this year, making him a lock for 6th Man of the Year.

When we take a look at the Clippers results over their last ten games like we did with Golden State, we basically get the same results. Over those ten games they have scored or given up over 100 points seven times. Two of the other games that didn't reach the 100s, were in the 94 point range, so not that far off at all.

This team is averaging over 102 points per game and they finally just got Chris Paul back in the starting lineup. The Warriors are giving up nearly 100 points per game on the defensive end so we should definitely see some classic “lob city” basketball from the Clip Show where they go off for their 30 point quarters.

Take the OVER

The last two times these teams have met up at least one team has scored 115 points and we expect it to be the same results today. This should be a run and gun, explosive basketball game, where they look to put on a show for the fans on this MLK Day.
