I hope all of you enjoyed the Super Bowl last night, but the NFL is over, and it’s basketball time. There are several NBA games on tap this evening, and I have highlighted two that I really see value in. Let’s take a look and see where the NBA odds makers have potentially left us some openings.
Pistons vs. Knicks
We head to the east coast for the first of our NBA picks, where the Detroit Pistons head to MSG to face the NY Knicks. The Pistons almost knocked off the Lakers yesterday afternoon, and now they are in New York on the second of a back to back. Since they played in the afternoon yesterday, the Pistons do have a little more time to recover, but the Knicks are still the NBA betting favorites, listed at -10 on the current betting lines.
I believe that the best betting value lies in the total, which sits at 198. I’m really liking the under. The Knicks are a solid defensive unit, and against a Pistons team that struggles to find offense at times, the under is the play. Both teams are good defensively, and the Pistons especially struggle to score on the road in most cases. I think the Knicks will be held under 100 points, while the Pistons will likely not get much higher than 90. Take the under.
My Pick: UNDER 198
Blazers vs. Wolves
For the second of my free sports picks, I want to look at the matchup between the Blazers and Wolves. Both teams are marginal on the defensive end, while both have the ability to light it up on offense. I am once again siding with the total in this one, as the Blazers have some injuries that make me weary of taking points with them.
At 192 points, I think the over is the play. The Wolves are back healthy with the exception of Kevin Love, while the Blazers give up a lot more points on the road as well. 192 seems just a bit low for me.
My Pick: OVER 192
