Bucks vs. Sixers
If there was ever a game that you take one look at and immediately lose your appetite, it’s this one. The Bucks and Sixers will almost certainly be the top two odds favorites in the lottery this offseason, and after the trade deadline a few days ago, the Sixers are looking especially ugly tonight. Word out of Danny Granger’s camp is that he is not happy about being traded from one of the East’s best to one of the worst, and he might not even suit up in a Sixers uniform. With that, the 76ers are looking more like a D-League team than and NBA team, and the NBA Odds have them as a -3 favorite in the early odds from BetOnline.
Even though the Bucks are horrific in their own right, their struggle this season has been just as much battling injuries as it’s been just being bad. However tonight even on the road, they are looking like the play. Brandon Knight made his return for the Bucks a few nights ago and he is going to have a field day against MCW’s defense.
Milwaukee has the talent to beat this bad team even on the road tonight. OJ Mayo can give them scoring when they need it, as can Ersan Ilyasova. In fact, for probably the only time this season, the Bucks are the more talented team on the floor, and yet they are underdogs. The Sixers are only 1-8 ATS in their last nine home games.
My Pick: Bucks +3
Celtics vs. Jazz
The NBA Odds for this one favor the Jazz at -3, with a total of 189 points. Both teams are dealing with some injuries, especially the big men. Derrick Favors has missed the last three games with a hip injury, and his status for tonight’s game is still unknown. Along with him, the Celtics are dealing with a concussion to their young big man, Jared Sullinger. He missed the Celtics’ most recent game, and as of the weekend, he has not passed the league concussion tests.
I have to think that both guys will be out tonight, however as always, make sure you double check their statuses before you lock anything in. Assuming they are both out, I still like Boston as a value play tonight. Rajon Rondo should make his return after sitting out Saturday. That was a back to back for Boston, and Rondo has yet to be cleared for back-to-back action.
However with Rondo back in the driver’s seat for Boston, I think the Celtics can cover +3 tonight. The C’s are 16-12 ATS on the road this year, and 15-11 ATS when playing as road underdogs. Boston has also gone 4-2 ATS in their last six meetings with the Jazz, including two wins ATS in Utah during that span.
Even though the Celtics are 0-12 SU on the road against the West, they have gone 6-5-1 ATS despite not winning a game SU. I see them keeping it close and coming away with the cover. The Jazz have been pretty bad recently. In their last three games, their opponents have scored over 109 points per game against them.
My Pick: Celtics +3
