The Timberwolves travel to the Mile High City after winning their last two while the Nuggets are smarting after their blowout loss to Golden State. Let’s evaluate this matchup and cash a Tuesday night ticket.

Minnesota (32-35 SU, 34-33 ATS) vs. Denver (43-22 SU, 35-30 ATS)

Tuesday, 10:30 PM ET

Free NBA Pick: Timberwolves - ATS

Best Line Offered: 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3568861, "sportsbooksIds":[999996,999998,238,19,180], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

Karl-Anthony Towns dropped 40 on the Wizards Saturday night in Minnesota’s 135-130 overtime thriller but he was absent the following evening when they drilled the Knicks 103-92 as 6 ½ point home favorites. Towns suffered a right knee injury against Washington that proved to be less serious than originally thought and his status for tonight is questionable. Nevertheless, the bench took over as Andrew Wiggins sat with a thigh contusion and Derrick Rose saw limited action as head coach Ryan Saunders chose to rest the team’s second-leading scorer for all but eight minutes of action. Taj Gibson notched a season-high 25 points while five Timberwolves scored in double figures. It was the sixth consecutive home win for Minnesota, a streak that began after their 106-105 loss to the Nuggets at the Target Center.

After barely missing the playoffs last year, the Denver Nuggets are this season’s Cinderella story as they hit the homestretch of the season as the No. 2 seed in the West, just 1 ½ games behind the Golden State Warriors. However, the Nuggets have struggled recently, losing four of their last five and failing to cover the NBA odds in three of those contests. When last they took the floor, the Nuggets dropped a 122-105 decision to the Warriors on Friday night which means Denver has had three full days of rest as they head into Tuesday night’s contest against a desperate Minnesota team on the precipice of getting eliminated from postseason contention.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️
ALL PURPLE ROAD TRIP
☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️ pic.twitter.com/bYPcgrnezu
— Timberwolves (@Timberwolves) March 11, 2019
\n\n"}[/]

Minnesota has matched up very well against the Nuggets when playing in Denver as evidenced by Minnesota’s 4-0 ATS mark in as many games. However, both contests this season have been held in Minnesota where the Nuggets have edged the Timberwolves by scores of 103-101 and, most recently, 107-106. Although it is true Minnesota may be without the services of KAT tonight, the oddsmakers appear to be bracing for an influx of public money aimed right at the Nuggets. As of this early morning writing, Denver is an even 10-point favorite across the board and that seems like solid value for a wager on the road dog this evening in your NBA picks.

The case to be made for Denver is that they are 10-1 straight up and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 contests as double-digit favorites. Add to that, the Nuggets should be well-rested and ready to roll after having three days off from the grind that is the NBA season. However, Denver has not been playing well as of late while the Timberwolves have a little mojo going in their direction as they’ve won their last two, with Wiggins and Rose getting a rest in Sunday’s win over the Knicks. Let’s also not forget that Towns is not completely ruled out and if he does suit up, this line will drop. Even without their star player, this number is too big to ignore. Minnesota has lost by a grand total of three points combined in their two meetings against the Nuggets this season so we will grab all those delicious points and bet the Wolves.
