Another battle for Texas takes place tonight in San Antonio, as the Mavs make another visit to play the Spurs. But Which Texas squad will we back with our NBA picks to cover the spread?

NBA Picks: Mavs vs. Spurs

Both teams had the night off on Wednesday, and now tonight with the short card in the NBA, the Mavs come into this game as +8 underdogs, with a total of 206 points on the NBA odds board. Which one of these teams or sides will cash us a Thursday night winner?

Mavs make push

After a bad night last night for myself, I’m looking to get back on track this evening. Dallas is only 2 ½ games out of the playoffs, and they have been playing their hearts out over the last few weeks to put themselves in a position to do so.

However, the Mavs still are staring up at the Jazz who are currently 9th, as well as the Lakers so on. The Mavs are currently on a mini four-game winning streak SU, and more impressively, three of those last four wins have been on the road. Albeit they were against pretty bad teams with the exception of Milwaukee, but a win is a win when you are fighting for one of the last playoff spots out West.

They have not had much success against the Spurs in recent years, but they have a very god chance at getting the cover this evening. The Spurs looked awful against the Wolves the other night, and this could be the opportunity Dallas has been waiting for against this team.

Spurs lose badly

They were still without Tony Parker, and Tim Duncan was held out of the game likely due to rest and the Spurs got waxed by the Wolves back on Tuesday. San Antonio lost 107-83, making another instance where the Spurs have inexplicably lost big to a bad team. The Pistons have done it to them, as have the Blazers and Wolves more recently.

It appears as if Duncan will play tonight, and his knee injury could have just as easily said “old,” next to it again. The Spurs have won seven of their last eight home games against Dallas, and they have covered up to four in a row against Dallas when playing in San Antonio.

The Spurs are currently only one game up on the Thunder for the top spot out West, and if they don’t get their acts together, the Thunder will be coming for them.

The Sharp Pick

However tonight, both Duncan and Leonard are probable to play this evening, and that changes everything. With these two most likely back in the lineup, the Mavs will have no answer down low for the big man Duncan.

Even though the Mavs have been on a nice winning streak, I think it stops here. After a big loss like the one they sustained two nights ago, the Spurs are 4-0 ATS in their next game after getting blown out in their previous game. In fact after all losses this season for the Spurs, they are 10-5 ATS following an L in the right column. I think the Spurs will bounce back this evening and cover the eight points and am taking them for my NBA picks in this one.
