[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2883219, "sportsbooksIds":[169,1096,93,19,92,238], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
Final Score Predictions: Spurs 97 Mavericks 88
NBA Picks: Spurs -6½ & Under 197
Best Line Offered: at TheGreek

San Antonio Spurs vs. Dallas Mavericks
Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs (41-8 SU, 14-8 Away) head to Dallas on Friday night and the American Airlines Center to dribble and shoot basketballs with Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks (28-24 SU, 15-9 Home) in a nice Southwest Division showdown which will be nationally televised on ESPN and the third of four Regular Season meetings between these familiar foes but first in Dallas. NBA Odds makers have made the Spurs 6½-point favorites (Pinnacle) in this one with the Total (Points) set at 197 (Pinnacle). The Money Line (Winner) odds see San Antonio priced at -275 (Sky Bet) with the host Mavericks lined at +225 on the takeback. The San Antonio Spurs Team Total Points has been set at 104½ (Sky Bet) with the Dallas Mavericks Total Points at 102 (BetVictor) while the 1st Half odds see the guest Spurs as 3½-point favorites (-117, Winner).

Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks (29-22-0 ATS, 12-16-0 ATS Home) and Head Coach Rick Carlisle have now fallen to 6th place in the Western Conference, but with star F Dirk Nowitzki (17.8 ppg, 6.9 rpg) dealing with a nagging Knee Injury for parts of this season and Dallas (100.6 AF-101.0 AA) a member of the rough-and-tumble Southwest Division, 4 games over .500 and in 6th place in the Western Conference sounds about right for early February. In their last game (on Wednesday), the Mavericks (100/1 to win NBA title, BetVictor) lost to the Miami Heat at Home, 93-90 as Head Coach Carlisle had Nowitzki, SG Wesley Matthews, PG JJ Barea, C Zaza Pachulia, F Chandler Parsons in his Starting 5 with G’s Deron Williams (Hip) and Devin Harris (Toe) both missing the game with Injuries. Besides Williams and Harris, S Salah Mejri (Knee) is also hurt for Dallas and didn’t play against the Heat. With Williams and Harris—who missed his 6th straight game and who has already been ruled out here by Carlisle (Thursday)—hurt, Dallas is a different team. Mavericks Head Coach Carlisle said Thursday that he expects Williams to be back for this game rivalry game within the Texas Triangle.

San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs (30-17-1 ATS, 13-9 ATS Away) and Head Coach Gregg Popovich are having an incredible season and on Wednesday night at Home in the sacred AT&T Center, San Antonio defeated the New Orleans Pelicans, 110-97, a the New Kid On The Block LaMarcus Aldridge scored 38 points and snagged 10 rebounds as the hosts improved to a gaudy 25-0 at Home. In the Win over the Pelicans, the Spurs (+360 to win NBA Championship, Sportingbet) also got nice production from Starters David West (14 points 5 assists)—filling in for Injured San Antonio C Tim Duncan—star SF Kawhi Leonard (26 points, 5 rebounds) and F Danny Green (16 points, 7 rebounds) while veteran PG Tony Parker (2 points, 7 assists, 26 minutes) was below average. PG Patty Mills (8 points) and Old Man River SG Manu Ginobili (6 points, suffered Groin Injury in game) combined for 14 of the Spurs Bench but that was it as G Ray McCallum (DNP), emerging stud SG Jonathan Simmons (DNP), SF Rasual Butler (DNP) and Boban Marjanovic (DNP) all didn’t even get in and SF Kyle Anderson (0 points) and C Boris Diaw (0 points) combined for the same number of points as you and I and we were sitting and never got the pill. Duncan (Knee, Out Indefinitely) has been sat out much lately by Head Coach Popovich (and that’s his style and Timmy is Old) so check his status if you intend on going heavy on this game, which will be the second night of back-to-backs for both teams, the difference for Dallas being that they got to sleep in their own beds and not have to travel anywhere. Still, the Spurs CrazySexyCool Roster is loaded compared to the limping Mavericks (Under 8-1 L9 Friday games) this season, but with Duncan sitting and now Ginobili out until late March after suffering a Groin Injury in Wednesday’s win and having Testicular Surgery on Thursday, they will certainly be tested. But with McCallum and Simmons—who at times plays like a Kawhi Leonard clone and looks like he has the athleticism to become a breakout star someday in the NBA—the Spurs should be plug these two in and keep humming right along.

Recent Series Trends, Logical Reasoning and Mesquite BBQ-Flavored Picks
The Spurs won the first two meetings, both at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, 86-83, (SA -10, 198) in November and 112-83 (SA -12, 196) and San Antonio is a respectable 18-8 ATS in its L26 games overall although the Underdog is 12-3 ATS the L15 in this series and the Spurs are just 4-9 ATS the L13 against Dallas. And in the L10 meetings in this series, Dallas is 6-4 ATS—San Antonio has W3 SU—and the Under is an eye-popping 7-3 ATS with the eye-popping part coming from the fact the L6 straight have gone Under with only one side (SA) topping the 100-point mark in the L2 meetings. When handicapping Spurs games, there is always the X Factor of how seriously Head Coach Popovich will treat a game and will he decide to (totally) rest one of his three Elder Statesmen, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker and it makes it hard to pinpoint a read going in. Therefore, betting less amounts or waiting until the last minute to see who Pops is going with and/or how serious San Antonio is going to be in its approach to that specific game. Some nights they take it super-serious and others it seems like an intentional coasting, saving players bodies and lungs for later in the season when the games matter more. And the even in the rough-and-tumble West, the Spurs knew they were in the Postseason at 0-0. Expect a competitive performance from San Antonio here with players farther down the Bench getting some minutes and providing points. And with nothing but 6½’s in the opening market, a friendly reminder to by the Hook (½ point, down to -6 -120-ish) if you can to avoid the last-minute freakiness which is omnipresent when betting Basketball. Take San Antonio has your NBA pick tonight.
