The slumping Bulls are set to meet up with the soaring Hawks tonight from United Center in a must-win game for the Bulls. Right now the NBA odds have Chicago as a +3 underdog, with a total of 206 points.

Castrated Bulls
The Chicago Bulls have been playing horribly this season, and even more so lately. I thought we could catch them on a turnaround in a VERY winnable game against the Magic a few nights ago, but even with the Magic missing their two best players, the Bulls still got beat down by a vastly inferior team.

Now their playoff chances are on the line tonight and this week, as they head into a much tougher game against the Hawks at the United Center. With how badly they are playing, how can we do anything but fade them tonight?

The Bulls fired Tom Thibodeau this offseason and brought in Fred Hoiberg in hopes that Hoiberg would improve the Bulls’ offense. Instead Chicago has gotten worse on offense. Even with their injuries, they should still be well within the playoff hunt, but mediocrity against bad teams has set them on a course to where they would need to defy the NBA Odds to make it into the playoffs.

I don’t care if the Bulls had a clear the air meeting after their loss to the Magic, they are still going up against a better team tonight and are still being overvalued by the sportsbooks. The Hawks come into this one after covering seven of their last eight games, while the Bulls are only 6-10 ATS in their last 16, and 0-4 ATS in their last four games.

These two teams have played three times this season, and in all three games the Hawks won both SU and ATS, leaving me to believe that with how badly Chicago is playing right now, and with Pau Gasol and Jimmy Butler obviously not themselves, the Hawks laying points on the road is the way to go tonight.

The Sharp Pick
Atlanta is 20-16 ATS this season when playing on the road, while the Bulls are one of the worst home ATS teams this season coming into tonight at 16-21 ATS at the United Center. While both teams are around .500 when playing as away favorites and home underdogs, the Bulls have been one of the worst teams in the league in conference games this season. Chicago is 16-29 ATS versus the East this season, which is worse than every other team other than the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Hawks on the other hand have been stellar in non-divisional games this season, While it does include games against the West, the Hawks are 33-25-1 ATS this season when playing against teams not in the Southeast division.

Finally, the Hawks are 23-18-2 ATS this season when coming off a win, and considering they are riding a three game winning streak both SU and ATS, I am going with the hotter team, despite them being road favorites. The Hawks are 6-2 SU and 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games, so lay the points with Atlanta as your NBA pick tonight against the underachieving Bulls.
